It’s kinda difficult to have any sympathy for Micheal Martin when he issues an “uhhhh, don’t have a magic wand” response like this. There’s no direction, no delivery, piss-all competence, and his primary achievement this year is backing down to a group of lads who blocked O’Connell Street.
Screenshot of story from The Journal: a pic of Micheal Martin behind three microphones, with a headline that reads “'We can't do everything for everyone': Taoiseach seeks to manage expectations around”

Have a horrible feeling the stage is set for loads of Brits to blind themselves today. Silly season making it a big news item. No glasses anywhere. People more scornful of authority than they've ever been. The ultimate finger in the eye to woke health and safety culture: your own eye.

Delighted to see that Andrea Pirlo was booted out of contention for the Italy job, which has returned to Roberto Mancini, as Pirlo has been a cheerleader for some of the most appalling gambling operators around, not only Russian sportsbook Fonbet, but also 1Xbet, who are even worse.

I'm just saying INXS should never have convinced us to pronounce it "In Excess" in the first place. Just use your head a little. If it's a full word, it's INKS. If it's initials, it's I-N-X-S. End of discussion. This vanity number plate, half-and-half job- it's embarrassing.

I had a new limited edition print of my Henry VIII biopic comic made. Limited to 50 copies, archival quality giclee print on heavy art paper. Well I mean heavy by the standards of paper, it's only paper so it's not like, literally heavy. There's a link to my shop in my bio!
Print of a comic strip by Stephen Collins, originally in the Guardian.

Script for the comic is as follows:

[Scene is the Tudor royal court. ladies and gentlemen standing round. In the corner a very fat HENRY VIII is hunched over playing a lute.]

1
LADY:
Hey Anne Boleyn -
Who’s that lute player?

ANNE BOLEYN:
I dunno

[Determined face]

But I’m gonna find out.

[Title lettering panel]:

THIS SUMMER

[Scene is now two musicians - one with a harp, the other is Henry VIII again playing the lute]

HARPIST:
Yo Henry VIII -

Who wrote that sick lute riff yo’ jamming?

HENRY VIII:
Why...

[Looking around, modest, surprised at the attention]

I did…!

[Title lettering panel]:

SEE THE STORY

[Scene is now a tudor record producer with ruff and wearing dark sunglasses]:

PRODUCER:
Congratulations Henry
Your lute thing is a hit and your story is now one of uncomplicated musical success!

[Show a panel with lots of Beatlemania-style scenes of success for Henry the musician - swooning tudor girls, playing lute on stage, waving to fans as he descends from his golden carriage. In the middle of it in Tudor lettering are the words]:

“UNCOMPLICATED MUSICAL SUCCESS MONTAGE”.

[Another scene - a man is saying to Henry]:

MAN:
Say Henry VIII -
Are you doing anything outside this narrative that is very bad or weird?

HENRY VIII:
No.

[Title lettering panel]:

…OF A MUSICAL GENIUS
who definitely didn’t do anything outside this narrative that was very bad or weird

[Scene with Thomas Cromwell]

THOMAS CROMWELL:
Hang on Henry aren't you also a -

HENRY VIII [jumping in front of him with his lute held aloft]:
LUTE SOLO!

[Final film title panel]:

HENRY VIII:
Rock Biopic
[rated U]

[Ends]

The “Calvin’s dad explains two types” meme, inspired by a Calvin and Hobbes cartoon.

Clockwise from top left:
1) Calvin’s dad walks into frame to find Calvin trying to operate a record player. The dad says: “There are only two industries left in America: gambling, and fraud.”

2) The dad shows where the record goes, and how to turn on the player, while Calvin watches. Dad says “Derivatives? Gambling. AI? Fraud. Video games? Gambling. Social media? Fraud.” Calvin says “yeah”.

3) With one hand open palm up, Calvin’s dad cheerfully explains to Calvin out of frame below him, “The stock market looks like gambling, but it’s actually fraud.”

4) In bed in a dark room, Calvin clutches at his pillow, eyes wide in existential terror. There is no text in the panel.

There's no doubt the fuel protests are justified. But they can't just impact ordinary people, while the govt remain unaffected. Which is the case for now. However, it's vitally important to know who one of the main poster boys for the protest is. This is Chris Duffy, I'll let him tell you who he is.

today we give thanks to Gabumon, who long ago digi-died for our digi-sins 🙏
a screenshot from episode 38 of the Digimon Adventure anime reboot that came out in 2020.

it shows the character Gabumon being crucified. this is after he is kidnapped by Mephistomon, a fallen angel digimon, & then ritualistically sacrificed to try and resurrect an ancient evil god digimon named Milleniumon.

this was in the cartoon. they showed this to children.

Picture of a large junction box on the street at the top of Kildare Street at Stephen’s Green in Dublin, Ireland. On it is painted a very large, angry-looking seagull in front of two wooden gates. Two tiny people, dwarfed by the seagull, appear to be running from it, one on either side of the lower front of the image. The text over the gates reads St Stephen’s Green. The signature in the lower right of the image says M. Fitz 25.
