The lighting glow-up was one of the most important changes TNG made for season 3, IMO. The difference was night and day.

Two shots of Picard, one from season 1, the other from season 3 (or possibly season 4, I forget).

The original Star Trek TNG cinematographer, Edward R. Brown, retired after season 2 and was replaced by Marvin Rush.

That was the very worst cinema screening I’ve ever been in. A group of around 10 teenagers laughing, taking all the way through Resident Evil. Even talking to each other row to row (they weren’t all sat together). One couple were asking for a refund on the way out. Don’t blame them.
