If you’ve read about TN this week, please take a moment with this piece if you didn’t read it when we published it: It’s an investigation into the execution team Alabama has put together. It’s officers with a history of violence who choose each other. Eye-opening to what happens in executions.

In Alabama, Prison Guards Accused of Violence and Misconduct Carry Out Secretive Executions - Bolts
As Alabama keeps details around the death penalty hidden, an investigation into its execution team raises questions about how incarcerated people are treated in their final moments.

I’ve gotten a lot of questions from journalists like, “If my son were in that group chat, I’d want him to say something. How can I teach him to speak up?” The question should be: “How do I raise a son who would never rush a fraternity?”

Don't let copaganda fool you — police violence is not tied to their safety. In 2025, the vast majority of killings began with police responding to suspected non-violent offenses or cases where no crime was reported.
Screenshot of chart showing how police killings in 2025 began. 680 were suspected non-violent offenses or cases where no crime was reported. 112 were traffic violations. 84 were unknown.

During the Biden administration, as well as the first Trump administration, people in other countries tended to view the US favorably even if they didn't approve of its president. That's less and less the case today.

International views of the U.S. and its president are increasingly correlated
During Joe Biden’s presidency, as well as during Donald Trump’s first term, there was a much weaker relationship between views of the U.S. and confidence in its president.

I'd like to believe the extrapolations here, but total admissions rose in 2021, 2022, and 2023. 2023 hit 430K for the states, 472K overall. For states, the 2019-2020 drop was from 580K to 348K. So 430K is a rollback of 35% of the drop (drop was 232K, now 150K).
Table showing trends in admissions. Shows a big drop in 2020, small gain in 2021.BJS table, admits rise from 2021-2022BJS table, admits rise from 2022-2023.

Nice to have a citation for the stuff we all sort of assume to be true but question if it's just our own biases making it look that way
Screenshot from the article in the quoted post, saying "Piff and his colleagues found that upper-class drivers were more likely to cut other cars off at junctions and ignore pedestrians at crossings. Wealthier people also appeared more willing to lie at work. In one experiment, volunteers were left alone with a jar of sweets ostensibly meant for children. When the researchers returned, upper-class people had snaffled nearly twice as many candies as lower-class people.

“The general pattern seems to be that with wealth and rising power, you become less engaged with the needs of others and less burdened by the needs of social relationships,” Piff said. “Taking candy from children might be the least of our worries but it’s emblematic of the tendency to prioritise one’s own needs over those of others.”

Important to remember this, from a 2013 report on CBP. For YEARS now, there have been concerns that DHS agents INTENTIONALLY place themselves in harms way IN ORDER TO justify the shooting. We saw this w Renee Good as well: Ross put himself in front of her car.
Shooting at Vehicles
Fifteen cases were reviewed where shots were fired at or into vehicles by CBP agents.
Observations:
Based on a review of the submitted cases, it appears that CBP practice allows shooting at
the driver of any suspect vehicle that comes in the direction of agents. It is suspected that
in many vehicle shooting cases, the subject driver was attempting to flee from the agents
who intentionally put themselves into the exit path of the vehicle, thereby exposing
themselves to additional risk and creating justification for the use of deadly force. In most
of these cases, the agents have stated that they were shooting at the driver of a vehicle
that was coming at them and posing an imminent threat to their life. In some cases,
passengers were struck by agents’ gunfire. Little focus has been placed on defensive
tactics that could have been used by shooting agents such as getting out of the way. It
should be recognized that a ½ ounce (200 grain) bullet is unlikely to stop a 4,000 pound
moving vehicle, and if the driver of the approaching vehicle is disabled by a bullet, the
vehicle will become a totally unguided threat. Obviously, shooting at a moving vehicle
can pose a risk to bystanders including other agents.
