Alll of this. I started my career in construction, working office jobs alongside people who worked trades. Know how many 60-year-old guys I saw working as bricklayers? Doing demo? Zero. I had a boyhood dream of living in the city with a boyfriend and a dog and running a bookshop. For a while there, I achieved all I wanted. But the rents were too high and the bookshops struggled and now it feels like my dreams were too big while I’m being told I didn’t strive enough. Grim times 🫤
