Surprisingly enough, S06E04 of The Walking Dead! A bottle episode with John Carroll Lynch and Lennie James called Here's Not Here, which is one of the most profound things I've ever seen on TV. Deals with restorative justice, vengeance, and grief so deftly, on the SIXTH season of a zombie show.

If you still support the death penalty in some cases, you should read about the drug supply issues and how inconsistent administering them efficiently is. It has been botched a shocking number of times, and it is TORTURE. I saw a doc where the expert described it as feeling like acid in your veins.

We do not talk enough about the prevalence of misinformation inside medical institutions. It is framed as a problem of disobedient outsiders, but in reality, misinformation - from anti-vax to anti-PPE to the "overdiagnosis" moral panic - originates, spreads, and kills *inside* the house.

And I really do think that's what most of our disabled comrades are complaining about, insofar as they are. Not that we haven't eliminated all health risks in our spaces but that we don't behave like this stuff matters for all of us as a movement...

*We're" the ones who force them into having to consider their health individually when we decline to think about it collectively, rather than working with our disabled comrades to make reasonable choices re: weighing risks. Something they have more experience with anyway!

And yeah when you put people in that position, you are only gonna hear from certain people. You aren't gonna hear from people who don't want to talk about their personal needs in an organizing context, they'll just be quiet and protect themselves. Which is a big loss.

This is so inane. Spend any time browsing masking advocacy online, white people might be the minority. Anecdotally, in Toronto like 80% of the other people I see masking are not white. When I leave my area to go to really white neighbourhoods, NO masks. White people are failing this group project.

It’s *our rights* that are on the chopping block, so of course we are speaking out. Regarding Assumption #8: This isn’t necessarily true. One only needs to look at the UK, where Labour (the center-left party that is analogous to Democrats here) tried to appease anti-trans activists in an attempt to garner broader support, but it completely backfired, and now they have alienated much of their base (a lesson that Democrats should pay heed to). And now with both major UK parties embracing anti-trans policies, trans people face a nation-wide situation that is arguably worse than it is in most red states.

I am grouping these together because they are both common responses, sometimes espoused by the same person, even though they are inherently contradictory. The former tacitly recognizes that protesting the Democratic candidate in question is in trans people’s best interest, while the latter suggests that it’s not in our best interest. So which is it? It can’t be both!
While contradictory, Assumptions #7 and 8 can both be used toward the same end goal, namely, dismissing trans people’s perspectives. They are both “polite” ways of telling trans people to “shut the fuck up.”
