Games named for the act of going around planting bombs likely wasn't going to go down all that well with retailers in 1980s Britain after nearly two decades of 'The Troubles'. Hudson's first Bomberman game was censored for its Euro release and retitled... Eric & The Floaters.

Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...
A casual Star Wars alien fella at the cantina, in a sun faded, reddish photo. Someone will be mad at me for not knowing who this is. Phil, a balding Caucasian man, poses a model of the garthok, an antagonist from the Coneheads movie.Phil, a balding caucasian man, points at some CG on a CRT computer monitor, as a younger man looks on. The screen shows a model of a dinosaur attacking a jeep, while there's an actual physical model of that event in the foreground for reference.an isolated shot of a star wars vehicle. When I heard the allegation this morning I delisted a 2019 video. I've now privated it. Regrettably, it'll remain offline since I no longer have the software to open that project and replace the VO. First time removing a video, but I don't believe there's any good reason to leave it up. Sorry.

New scan: MCV from October 7, 2005: • Microsoft hypes the 360, due out in mere weeks. 160 games announced! • Jimmy Carr to host 2005's Golden Joysticks. Would have searched for it, but then I might have ended up seeing Jimmy Carr. • Do weblogs mean the end of game journalism? No. Capitalism did.

Been listening to someone's UK Top 20 Hits of 1982 playlist lately. And between all the Human League and Bucks Fizz, an incredibly Japanese-sounding jazz fusion track showed up. I assumed either the playlist had run out and started something else, or the playlister accidentally added some city pop?

Many games for the GameCube use only a fraction of the storage capacity of the disc. I have analyzed the data to determine what the maximum number of retail Mario games that can fit on a single disc would be, creating the Luigi & Wario + Puzzle + Rhythm Maximum Value Pack.
A GameCube disc has a storage capacity of 1.46 gigabytes. Many Mario games use only a fraction of that storage. Below is the optimal distribution of the smallest Mario-related games on the system to fit 6 entire retail games on a single disc.
Unused space 54 MB
Luigi's Mansion 186 MB
DDR Mario Mix 264 MB
Wario World 257 MB
Donkey Konga 2 312 MB
Donkey Konga 250 MB
Please note that this pie chart is for data visualization only. If the games were in fact put on one disc, the data would be arranged in rings, not in slices.

How cheap was The 3DO Company's licensing & royalty costs for games? $3 per (sold) disc. That's it. Sega & Nintendo, meanwhile, were charging $10-$15 per cartridge. Sony would later charge $7-$9 per disc for the PS1. It's easy to see why a bunch of Japanese studios signed on to the 3DO.

I also really love this infographic we did. The magazine archive is a collaborative effort. We've scanned thousands of magazines, but we're also relying on years of scanning work by the community and partnerships with the industry. It takes a village!
30% of our magazines were provided by Retromags. 33.4% were scanned by the Video Game History Foundation. Magazine publishers and staff provided another 10.8%. In declining order, other contributor groups are "Various Internet Archive users," CGW Museum, Out-of-Print Archive, and other community groups.
