Here are the results from 38 responses; kind of interesting! Moderate interest in the idea from a group of respondents, a clear-cut majority of which have never touched a Beeb.

Molyneux did code a lot of Populous, but the isometric deformable landscape engine was 100% Glenn Corpes' work. Peter has often forgotten to mention this in interviews and talks.
A comment on Kim Justice's video by Glenn Corpes:

"Hi Kim. As I'm mentioned in the video there are a couple of points I'd like to clear up. My name is pronounced Corpus and not Corpse but everyone makes that mistake. The other is that I wasn't an artist 'Idly playing with isometric blocks'. I'd also coded Populous' entire landscape system complete with raising and lowering the landscape and the map in the corner before anyone else even saw it. My original idea was an attempt to recreate Paul Shirley's 8 bit classic Spindizzy that got severely sidetracked. There was no gameplay or at least, I had no idea the landscape modification could be the basis of the gameplay. Peter then picked it up and ran with it."

Manager: You made the ad for the latest mail order PC games? Marketing: Sure did boss, real fuckin macabre just like you asked. (Computer Game Review, July 1994)
a full-page magazine ad for a company called Titan Games, inexplicably depicting (in the medium of pencil) a massive and seemingly naked man. to all intents and purposes he appears to be about to bite the head off a live ram, which he is holding in one hand above his open mouth. the other hand tightly grasps a horse, and it is implied that it will shortly face the same fate.

by the way, this is a mail-order company selling PC games.

I've adopted the technique of remembering very late in the process that videos need thumbnails, feeling wholly uninspired, and then rapidly throwing together whatever panicked half-shitposty idea has come to mind ten minutes later.

No problem, I'd be happy to help. I've got other platforms in there too as well as multiplatform titles, I just indexed most of my PC stuff initially to help with a thing I was doing. Here's all the UK titles that I've fully/partially indexed; a few of them are no longer on the Archive.

When I say most of the hits are ads, I mostly mean these. These kinds of ads are all over UK and US magazines and tend to match pretty much any game you might search for. There'll be hundreds of these in the directory. They are a pox on game researchers everywhere.

An example of how my magazine index works in practice: Ran a search for "SimCity 2000" (actually for multiple strings accounting for space/no space and other languages). The script created a folder with 1,400+ PDFs that include only the page(s) that match the strings. (Most of them will be ads.)
Some of the files in the folder. They each have the filename syntax “YYYY-MM magazine_name (ISO country code) issue_no - p[comma-separated list of page numbers] (hash).pdf”.A folder titled “sim city 2000,simcity 2000,simcity 2,sim city 2,シムシティ2000,심시티 2000,模擬城市2000”

I thought I'd seen this image before somewhere. It's from the 2000-year-old Gundestrup cauldron: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gundest...
Exterior plate D from the Gundestrup cauldron, showing a bearded man's face flanked by the bodies of two stags, which he's holding up with his giant hands (or they're very small stags).

He's very proud of his two dead stags and is clearly fishing for compliments.

Don't think I posted about the birthday gift from my partner earlier this month, but taking a photo reminded me. A nice, comprehensive, wordy coffee table book about a console I don't know well. I don't think Geeks-Line has an official presence here but this is my 7th book, and they're all superb.
Geeks-Line’s PC Engine book, one of a line of console volumes featuring hardware and the entire software library of different consoles.

Letter from the thugs at TV Licensing saying someone here has been using iPlayer. 1. No they fucking haven't. 2. How without ISP records (which they don't have) could they make that claim? I've been 100% open and honest with them, yet they treat me like a liar and try to shake me down. Had enough.
