Oh, hey, just remembered this little tidbit from a rare John Ledford interview from the start of this year! Man, he really was right about how Hidive gave people the "why" in regards to all of those Tatsunoko classics they added during the summer! Like...uh....and how....uh... and of course....

Great that D remains available to purchase today via Throwback Entertainment, but it does suck that it's only via the DOS port (plus the 3DO re-release that Limited Run infamously had... problems with). It'd be amazing if the original Amiga 4000 data for the CG visuals still existed for a remaster.

Where did today's anime production hellscape, with too many TV anime produced every season & a focus on initially airing them (in Japan) in late-night time slots, originate from? Well, 30 years ago exactly Those Who Hunt Elves debuted in late-night, establishing the format the defines anime today.

This meme is seemingly what every single company that agrees to be bought up by private equity thinks will happen, regardless of how often it's been proven that private equity continually ruins things, all for the sake of a quick buck & offloading their debts elsewhere. Stop it. You're not special.

Finished Act II of Metal Gear Solid 4... and, boy, I really hope anyone who complained about Ryuhei Kitamura's cutscenes in The Twin Snakes gave that game an apology, because the Raiden vs. Vamp cutscene at the end of Act II made anything in TTS look realistic, in comparison.

4 October marks the 30th anniversary for the start of the adaptation of Those Who Hunt Elves. Or you could argue that *conceptually* the anniversary fell yesterday, since I gather the show aired at 25:15 (1.15 AM). Which's the significance of the anniversary: the start of modern late-night anime.

Finished Act I of Metal Gear Solid 4 just now. The idea of putting Snake into literal active battlefields between two sides, and by dealing with forces from one side the other accepts you & doesn't activate warnings, is honestly a really neat mechanic. I know it doesn't last past Act II, though.

This is unfortunately 'cause this probably came from the EN dub, & in all TV shows (not just anime), when you're closed captioning an EN show, you are not translating. Closed caption editors are not translators. If a foreign language pops up, they're instructed to say [speaking in foreign language].
