Today's free Patreon post is on Newcastle's old Grain Warehouse, formerly one of the largest brick buildings in the world. Grain from Scandinavia and the Baltics was brought here for storage & domestic export. All demolished in the 70s. Link below!

I'm incredibly proud that I'm releasing the first tranche of research into 19th century inquests today. Our website now features the names of over 500 individuals who died in questionable circumstances over 39 years, many of them children and women, in Newcastle.

📷 When Martín Chambi’s portrait entered AmberSide in the 1970s, it was captioned “Indian from Paruro”. Elsewhere, “Giant of Paruro”. But his name was Juan de la Cruz Sihuana. Collections need active care. Keep the history, question the language, restore what was left out.
