I mean the bullpen was TOO left handed if anything. He also deserves credit for Skenes (I wanted Crews), Griffin (biggest dev success since Cutch?), Chandler, Gonzales, Valdez, whatever the catching situation is. I don’t think he’s the best GM in the league, but he’s done stuff in Nutting purgatory.

I mean they very clearly punted on defense this year after being a pretty good defensive team last year because they needed runs so badly. That was what was available in the FA market though. I don’t think they missed badly on a player who would’ve been better for them than Lowe or O’Hearn.

They are very obviously too susceptible to LH pitching, so another right handed multi-position bat would be cool too. But if KG is healthy and what we think he is and Skenes bounces back, this is most of a good roster right now.

I would like for them to QO Lowe (if even such a thing still exists in the new world order), get a 3B, more pitching (always). Probably makes sense to explore the trade market on an OF (and Cruz is really the only one who both may have trade value and is not under control for 4+ seasons).

I guess, and this may be controversial: the team strikes me as fairly well-built heading into next season. They have 5 ML-caliber OF. Clear starters at 3 of 4 IF spots. Still a ton of enviable young starting pitching. A conundrum, but with real talent at C. Only obvious roster need is 3B.

This is true, but he just did what every team does with their bullpen every year: throw some guys at the wall and hope some stuff sticks. Not enough stuck. Matsson and Santana went way backwards from last year.

I do not think that was something he could reasonably control. That’s when the reliever fire sale happens and that’s what the team needed most.

I am less keen on Don Kelly, but I do view that position as more leadership role/vibes coordinator than placing huge value on in game tactics these days. A lot of players have underperformed. It may reasonable to pin that on Kelly and his staff, but I’m not in the room and can’t say for sure.

I wanted GMBC fired pretty badly last fall, but think he has done a reasonably good job this season and last year’s draft has bloomed in a real way. I think keeping him is pretty defensible.

I called my brother to check if there were any developments with respect to his sword and he said he could sort of make it out way up there if he squinted. I don’t know why everyone’s losing it over these swords he said. Then I called my congresswoman to ask yet again if there were any plans to tackle the sword situation as it were and the girl who answered said it was the official position of the office that the swords do not exist except in some rare foreign cases. I could tell she was reading from a script. Can you let her know that they most certainly do I said and she said that she would pass the message along and hung up. Outside some landscapers were at work trimming the neighbor’s hedges. Each of them with a gleaming blade perched inches from the back of their necks. Why didn’t they just grab it at this stage I thought. Why didn’t they just reach right up and grab it.

He must have not seen me either. Sniffing around the perimeter on its skunking tiptoes. We both paused still and tense considering our options. It stomped its front feet and waited for a reply. Most likely calculating whether or not it was worth spending its one bullet on me. It takes them a while to reload apparently. Like an old soldier with a musket. I did nothing and in that moment this particular skunk heard a Gillian Welch song playing off of tinny phone speakers for what I can only assume was the first and last time in its life. I almost wanted to trade places with him. How many songs can the average skunk possibly ever hear never mind beautiful ones. Hard times ain't gonna rule my mind no more she sang. They’re more scared of you than you are of them you always hear people say about any given animal but I don’t want to scare anything anymore.
