Omigod, this is the most heartwarming story possible! Backpack (bear 89) is the son of the 2019 winner of Fat Bear Week, Holly (bear 435). In 2007, he injured his foot & a practice of riding on momma's Holly's back had a new meaning: he was mobility-restricted while it healed. So Holly moved him.
From DISCVR blog's Facebook page, a momma bear & a yearling cub on her back in the shallow water. I think the background has been swapped out, and I can't rule out some AI use there? God, Facebook has become the social media for AI slop : (

The title of the article, which I link below, is "How Bear 89 earned the name Backpack"

Its possible to tell roughly what year a Netflix show was made simply by whether the characters have their phones use a ringtone or only vibrate. 2023 or later is almost all vibrate.

One of the things I know about writing is this: spend it all, shoot it, play it, lose it, all, right away, every time. Do not hoard what seems good for a later place in the book or for another book; give it, give it all, give it now. The impulse to save something good for a better place later is the signal to spend it now. Something more will arise for later, something better. These things fill from behind, from beneath, like well water. Similarly, the impulse to keep to yourself what you have learned is not only shameful, it is destructive. Anything you do not give freely and abundantly becomes lost to you. You open your safe and find ashes.

The 1991 "Cape Fear" is part of the "Mitchell" extended universe.
Joe Don Baker in a scene from "Cape Fear" (1991) where he is acting opposite Nick Nolte. He looks like an older version of the disheveled doofus he played in "Mitchell" (1975)

get weirder 🫵
a digital collage with a pink, purple, green, yellow, and teal gradient overlaid on all the images. the images include a horse carrying a bucket, a cluster of mushrooms, a grub, a birds talon, a cicada, five spiders, two flower buds, a hand with an eye over the back of it, and a microscope slide of atoms. there is white text that reads "get weirder or die miserable." the background is black and there is a slightly grainy texture

My book is coming out in a couple of months, and I'm so excited about it that I'm going to address everybody's least favorite authorial question: "What the hell are you trying to do here?"
The front cover for The Inaccessible Rail by Roger Vaillancourt. Sort of a digital collage, with the image of a bird within the outline of a bird overlaid against a barren mesa.

Preorders make the world go round, although truthfully by “world” one means “tiny press” and by “go round” one means “not go defunct,” which is considerably less catchy. Below are some books that are available or preorder, all signed by their respective authors.
