It's not just movies that have less sex than they used to, and it's not just today. Way back in 2013 we had to cut this stunningly erotic moment from Superior Foes of Spider-Man #3 (more info in alt text)

A young couple having the saddest sex ever. She looks bored beyond measure. He's wearing a Ben Cooper-style Iron Man halloween mask. There are two little wiggle lines over his butt, indicating his twitchy little half-thrusts. My editors at Marvel tried to get it approved, but it wasn't going to happen- not in a book with "Spider-man" in the title. The panel was cut entirely and replaced with a caption floating in white space.

I drew this cursed image at my desk at Helioscope, and my studiomates had to put up with my asking them about one tiny revision after another. "Is this funnier?" Line art by me, Steve Lieber. Color by the always brilliant Rachelle Rosenberg.
