it's cool that Bill Gates' own wife thought the Epstein Files stuff was bad enough that she divorced him, but for the Thought Leaders he's still a guy in perfectly good standing

The House of Representatives should be elected by proportional representation. The President and Senate by approval voting. There should be no formal primary system, parties should be allowed to choose their nominees as they see fit.

Not just impeachable. Impeachment, both pres. and agency heads, is the only option. It's impeachment or nothing. Courts won't stop it. Other tools are impotent. Put them on trial the only way you can. Even if you can't get 2/3, use process as punishment. Make it miserable and costly. It can be done.

It annoys me greatly how easy it would have been for everything to be okay. Not perfect, not even great, but just 5/10 "I can slog through a day in undisturbed mediocrity without the Health Secretary declaring soap causes autism while the president literally shitposts about his war from the toilet."

I believe fraternity hazing and military hazing and sports team hazing where men abuse each other is acclimating them into a broader culture of abuse where they will then believe it is their right to abuse other more vulnerable people. It’s so insidious. And that’s also why I think men defend it

Another thing about fraternities is that the hazing rituals where slightly older young men would physically, mentally emotionally and sometimes even sexually abuse slightly younger young men have always disturbed and upset me greatly. And it’s really telling that I’ve seen men defend those too

shutting down frat houses won't end rape culture, but it will disorganize a lot of rapists, and i think that's probably worth doing if only to destabilize what is apparently an ecology of organizations that functionally exist to rape women per the whole "purpose of a system is what it does" insight.

I mean we saw this in the first term where people were doing “oh he would have won if not for COVID” - COVID was good for incumbents everywhere else! The issue wasn’t COVID, it was the admin response to COVID, which was the entirely natural result of how Trump operates

Yup, absolutely. I think it’s wrong to treat the Iran War as simply one bad error that happened to the Trump Admin rather than the entirely logical consequence of the way it operates. If it wasn’t Iran, it would almost certainly have been something else

you could do it like a classic European socdem-Christian Dem compromise, we get free daycare, you get stay at home parent subsidy. if Republicans wanted to offer that bargain to, say, President AOC I guarantee she'd accept it in a heartbeat

Norway has solution to this actually, stay at home parents can get their share of the public daycare subsidy as cash, that way parents are not pushed one way or the other. the problem of course is virtually no one on the center or right actually gives a shit about parents

Yes the fact that we, as a society, obviously posess all the wealth necessary to not only fix the chronic problems but also have everyone live a life of comfort and plenty, and only don't do that so like, car dealership owners can buy a 60 foot boat instead of a 40 foot boat — bad for the vibes!
