The Peace Pole in Stoney Wood, Wirksworth, Derbyshire. England
The Peace Pole in Stoney Wood, Wirksworth, Derbyshire. England. It is a carved tree trunk, maybe 3m tall with a teardrop shaped hole cut through the centre. The message “ May Peace Prevail On Earth” is carved on the inner surface of the hole. The top of the pole is shaped into a point with two places and the message also appears in French and English
The picture taken yesterday shows beams of sunlight streaming through the central hole in a magical way

https://www.peacepoleproject.org/home/

The May Peace Prevail On Earth movement is a grassroots global movement to inspire, and re-awaken the inherit consciousness of love, peace and harmony which exists in everyone of us. It is a movement to bring inner peace of mind and to foster peace in the world at large.

Water company profits are soaring as raw sewage is being pumped into our waters. The government must bring all water companies back into public ownership: end the unlawful dumping of sewage, and ensure profits are being reinvested back into fixing leaks and building new infrastructure.

I am heartened seeing young people's responses to Africa's size being more accurately depicted. To put it in perspective: In 1999, I boarded a jet in Johannesburg, South Africa and flew north for 10 hours at around 450 mph; we landed in #AFRICA. The jet ran out of fuel before it ran out of Africa.
However big you think Africa is, it's bigger than that. Go to the bush, and you can see stars from horizon to horizon. On the plains, you can't even sense where the continent ends. For reference, driving across the U.S. would take you 4 to 5 days. In Africa, If you started on the West coast of Mali, headed toward Egypt, after 4-5 days, you'd still be in the Sahara. This still doesn't get it right, and some shapes are distorted, but it's closer. Africa is still bigger than this.

Just want to point out if people had been beaten up at the Green or SNP party conference and their leader had cheered it on. It wouldn't just have been on TV, it would have been on TV non-stop until the election. But for Reform, it barely got mentioned.

Technically, humanity is capable of bringing global temperatures down, but the political will to do so will be lacking if the rise of the far right continues, as it is precisely those parties that deny humanity’s role in this. We will therefore have to expose the lies of climate change deniers.

There should be no left right centre now. The choice is binary: Progressive, Liberal Democracy & Human Rights Vs. Regressive, Autocracy, Kleptocracy, Theocracy & suppression of Human Rights. That's the simple choice...there is no fence, no bridge between. #ProgressiveAlliance ASAP.

As we approach hosepipe bans in the UK, and possibly other restrictions, remember this is NOT due to the heatwaves, nor drought. It is a supply failure caused by lake of investment in infrastructure, like reservoirs and repairing leaks. Short term shareholder profit rather than public utility
