‘Morning Cathy and SORCs. Slow start to the day but have done some laundry and hung it out. Excellent day yesterday. A nice walk along the river from Middleham to the Cover Bridge Inn (very fine pie and pint) before retracing our footsteps. Popped into see younger daughter and family on way home
A distant shot of the grey stone Middleham Castle, which is mid-frame. In the full ground is a grass field and a grazing white horse.. The bottom right of a picture is part of a stonewall. The upper half of the picture shows grey, cloudy skies.
The River Cover below Middleham in North Yorkshire, England. Water levels are very low revealing the flat stones that would usually be underwater. Trees frame the shot: to the left they are on the far bank, to the right on the near bank. Slightly to left of centre, on the far bank, there is a flat, grassy clearing

The Peace Pole in Stoney Wood, Wirksworth, Derbyshire. England
The Peace Pole in Stoney Wood, Wirksworth, Derbyshire. England. It is a carved tree trunk, maybe 3m tall with a teardrop shaped hole cut through the centre. The message “ May Peace Prevail On Earth” is carved on the inner surface of the hole. The top of the pole is shaped into a point with two places and the message also appears in French and English
The picture taken yesterday shows beams of sunlight streaming through the central hole in a magical way

The May Peace Prevail On Earth movement is a grassroots global movement to inspire, and re-awaken the inherit consciousness of love, peace and harmony which exists in everyone of us. It is a movement to bring inner peace of mind and to foster peace in the world at large.

2/2 full of hope. The Stardisc itself is pretty awesome too. Walking the labyrinth was exactly what needed: very restorative.
A 5 circuit classical pattern turf labyrinth. It is located in Stoney Wood, Wirksworth in Derbyshire, England. The labyrinth is surrounded by a circle of young willow trees. The picture is taken near the entrance to the labyrinth and shows the full 5 circuits and the surrounding willow trees, which stand approx 2m high.

Good morning Arm-Wap and SORCS. I’ve woken to the news of my brother’s death earlier this morning. I had a reflective day yesterday and spent a few hours at Dunham Massey to be in nature. Had some time on my own sitting by the lake at the rear of the house. This was the view
The rear of the red brick Georgian house of Dunham Massey viewed from the opposite bank of a small lake that forms part of its gardens.
Skies are mainly grey. There are ripples on the lake caused by a slight breeze and wild fowl, some of which can be seen in the middle distance, swimming on the water

‘Morning Guy and SORClanders. Buongiorno. Yesterday we made it to RHS Bridgewater and had a delightful stroll through the Chinese garden and then on to paradise (or at least the Paradise Garden). I’m unsure what to do today. I still feel as if I’m in recovery mode and need to build my energy. HAGD
A pool in the Chinese Garden at RHS Bridgewater. The pool is in the foreground of the picture and is fed by a small waterfall. The pool contains water plants and is surrounded by exotic plants. The upper third of the picture contains blue sky and white clouded. There are trees in the middle and far distance. People are looking down at the pool and stream, the latter not being in shot, from the higher ground above the waterfall The labyrinth in the Victoria Field at RHS Bridgewater. The joy of this labyrinth is that two people can walk it holding hands, or if multiple ppl are walking it, they can easily pass each other. OH and I walked it holding hands. I felt prompted to go and way and think about the possibilities of using a labyrinth in handfasting or bonding ceremonies

The picture shows a large turf labyrinth played on grass. In the upper third of the picture are trees which are situated on the far bank of the Bridgewater Canal, which is not visible in the picture

I should have been in London for the interment of OH’s step-mum’s ashes so my thoughts were there and with my OH. I marked the time of the ceremony sitting in one of my special places and reading this poem. Younger daughter visited in afternoon with her 2 boys. As of last eve my bro is still with us
A poem by Anon: Four Candles

Four Candles
The first candle represents our grief.
The pain of losing you is intense
It reminds us of the depth of our love for you.
The second candle represents our courage.
To confront our sorrow, To comfort each other, To change our lives.
This third candle we light in your memory.
For the times we laughed, The times we cried,
The times we were angry with each other, The silly things you did, The caring and joy you gave us.
This fourth candle we light for our love.
We light this candle that your light will always shine
As we enter this sad time and share this day of remembrance With family and friends.
We cherish the special place in our hearts That will always be reserved for you.
We thank you for the gift
Your living brought to each of us.
Anon.

Riverman’s walk 26.11.25 - Where waters meet: the confluence of the Nidd and Ouse near Beningborough Hall in North Yorkshire, England
A picture taken in early afternoon in late December. The camera is pointed towards the low sun on a day when the sky is mainly clear, with a few wisps of white cloud. In the foreground is a small triangular section of river bank with two leafless trees in silhouette stretching up from bottom left. The right hand tree reaches the upper middle edge of the picture

The broad River Ouse is joined by the smaller River Nidd and, at the point of confluence the waters form a large pool.

The sun, slightly above centre of the picture is reflected in the water.
