🖼️ Autumn Afternoon, Thomas Little.
A painting of an autumn forest scene; features tall, slender trees, including a prominent white-barked birch tree in the foreground. The trees are covered in yellow and golden leaves. Sunlight filters through the canopy, illuminating the scene. A small red fox is shown walking through a clearing on the forest floor, which is covered in what appears to be white flowers and fallen leaves.

'The owl’s head... was made separately and does not directly attach to the backing. Instead, a small copper rod extends from the head into the bird’s body. This would have permitted the head to rotate from side to side when the object was moved.' #OwlishMonday

Happy #BirdWhisperer Day! Kept it simple this time around as my patience seems to have left the building 😂
Digital drawing of a black woodpecker. It is a largish-medium bird clinging to the side of a gray tree and has a long cream-colored bill, iridescent black feathers that are shining light blue where the light hits, and a tiny bit of red just along the back of its head.

A constant recommendation.
J is for …
Jansson
One of my favourite imagined places to inhabit as unhappy
child was Moominvalley. I am still an unofficial ambassador
for it, telling young writers I mentor that they will struggle
to find a better constructed fictional world. I push those
writers into reading Tove Jansson because she makes
words dance, because she makes locations shimmer with
a sense of nature holding within it the not-quite-real that
may manifest at any moment. I push because she is one
of the finest storytellers, because her imagination still
pushes me. I hope that is all in Hookland, as no book ever
taught me more about the power of dark absence in a text
than Moominvalley In November. While the Moomins may
sometimes overshadow Jansson’s stunning lines as illus
trator, the sheer fairytale menace of her early paintings,
they cannot obscure her power to create spaces where the
mind may walk in hope of wonder

Even inland, the salt-hag is tide-pulled. Gulls call her to come to shore and see the wave-polished augeries on display. Sea-seasoned winds make promises of things to be summoned at the slack. She walks to her secret cove. Her first glimpse of sea an intoxication. – #EmilyCBanting #WitchSky

There are moments when time becomes uncertainty. It could be now, it could be two centuries back or more. Moments when we walk a landscape that feels more constant and reliable than the chaos of our own lives. How can I not feel this as an enfolding of ghosts? – #DAKilroy

V2 a ghost print is the second print pulled from a block without re-inking. OR if the image you have printed is over-saturated with ink you can take a print from this paper and will end up with a mirror image of the initial print. These are composite prints of two blocks ghost- printed separately
