Come from a family of contractors. Considered doing a plumbing apprenticeship at age 30 but my grandpa said I was too old. The trades ruin bodies. As an expert on sexual violence, I have to add that these ethical violations are a nightmare for interviews on sensitive subjects. I would never recommend ANY survivor goes public with their story at an outlet that would do this to them.

Once I found out about it, I contacted the reporter and asked him to retract the piece--or at minimum add an editor's note acknowledging the NYT reporting about how Jane Doe did NOT tell police that she consented to her rape. Thus far, the publication has refused to do so.

Earlier this week, I agreed to interviews with two USA Today journalists. They wrote fantastic articles about the Cornell case that I'm proud to have been a part of. What I did not know is that their employer considers interviews to proprietary and opens up recordings to be used by any journalist.
