Atlassian ships thousands of product changes a year, with that figure increasing steadily as the release cadence increases. Accommodating that scale requires a system that can handle the full complexity of multiple products, processes, teams and tools. Speakers: Julian Fleetwood and Jessica Gahan

Today I found out that Umberto Eco crafted a version of this meme in the 1980s…
Beware the
alibi of photocopies ! Photocopies are indis-
pensable instruments. They allow you to keep with you a text you have already read in the library, and to take home a text you have not read yet. But a set of photocopies can become an alibi. A student makes hundreds of pages of photocopies and takes them home, and the manual labor he exercises in doing so gives him the impression that he possesses the work. Owning the photocopies exempts the student from actually reading them. This sort of vertigo of accumulation, a neocapitalism of information, happens to many. Defend yourself from this trap: as soon as you have the photocopy, read it and annotate it immediately. If you are not in a great hurry, do not photocopy something new before you own (that is, before you have read and annotated) the previous set of photocopies. There are many things that I do not know because I photocopied a text and then relaxed as if I had read it.

49 years ago today, Anita Bryant (anti-gay troll) was pied by Thom Higgins. A good day. Sad to see an AI film "restoration" of the moment in circulation with tons of nasty artifacts. Let the past be the past. Our eyes & brains can see the truth without all the ugly "enhancements".

Once again, after she asked many History of Science & Technology questions she thought were rhetorical except I had answers, I got asked "How do you know all this?" ANSWER: Because I hold it all as a narrative in my head to make sense of the world. Also, I'm old and my brain is sticky.

Personality quiz for Folks of a Certain Age™: Who was your favorite member of Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love" (1986) video band (L to R): Julie Pankhurst (keyboard) Patty Kelly (rhythm guitar) Kathy Davies (drums) Robert Palmer (singer) Mak Gilchrist (bass guitar) Julia Bolino (guitar)
This image captures a still from the famous 1986 "Addicted to Love" music video by British rock singer Robert Palmer. Background and Setting The entire scene is set against a painted, theatrical backdrop depicting an abstract, warm-toned sunset sky filled with heavy orange, red, and dark brown clouds. The stage floor appears plain, lit directly to emphasize the performers. Main Performers Robert Palmer (Center): He stands front and center, actively singing into a vintage-style chrome microphone. He is dressed sharply in a crisp white dress shirt, a slim dark tie, and formal black trousers. His posture is relaxed yet commanding, contrasting with the rigid band behind him. The Backing Band (Five Women): Positioned around Palmer is an all-female backing band. They are famous for their stylized, synchronized appearance: Attire: Each woman wears an identical, sleek black minidress with high necklines, sheer black tights, and black high heels. Makeup and Hair: They sport high-contrast, dramatic 1980s makeup—pale skin tones, slicked-back dark hair, smokey dark eyeshadow, and stark dark red lipstick. Expressions: True to the video's aesthetic, all five women maintain completely blank, expressionless, and apathetic facial stares directed toward the camera. Instrumentation and Layout (Left to Right) Keyboardist: Standing on the far left, a woman rests her hands lightly on a compact white electronic keyboard mounted on a black stand. Rhythm Guitarist: To her right, a woman poses dynamically with a distinctive, angular white geometric guitar (resembling a Steinberger or Jackson style). Drummer: Positioned slightly further back in the center-left space, a woman sits behind a minimalist acoustic drum kit with silver chrome hardware. Bassist: Positioned to the right of Palmer, she holds a solid white bass guitar. Lead Guitarist: Standing on the far right edge of the frame, she holds a standard-shaped white electric guitar.
