Misconception: With all them AI advancements I spend my days idling as the agents do 10x work and I finish my work faster. Reality: Managing 3-5 agents at a time... Multi tasking and context switching like mad... I am busier than ever in fact...

That subtle feeling growing inside me, like a sweet and warm dawn of the mind. It cannot be stopped. It becomes every day more inevitable. It whispers: "I'm not going to give a fuck anymore."

AI did not kill developer education. It killed the old workflow where learning ended with a sample app and the developer did all of the translation work.

You start a candles biz. You grow it. Then you throw candles and they burn a house. You tell folks they shouldn't use candles for bad stuff. You tell the press that perhaps you'll slow down. You start selling extinguishers. Now all folks can think about is fire and your candles. Fucking bastard.

My wife is a psychiatrist. She gets me. That doesn't mean she endorses my behavior. She thinks I'm a beautiful person in the same way someone thinks that a Ferrari Daytona is a beautiful car, but not really a daily driver. More like a beautiful, wedge-shaped pain in the ass.

How Language Models in epistemic process enclosure and sabotage human sense-making - a math edition mathstodon.xyz/@tao/1172078...
In most cases in pure mathematics, the problems are posed not because we desperately want the solution to these problems in and of themselves, but because we have seen from past experience that human-directed efforts to solve these problems tend to spur further development of the field through the efforts to solve such problems, and then to digest any partial or complete solutions that emerge for further insights. Prematurely solving the problem by purely AI-powered methods - particularly without full transparency into the solution process - can contaminate this process to the point where it actually becomes a net negative for the progress of mathematics as a whole.

Asked Claude to describe what I do in the style of philosopher Slavoj Zizek: "You are a Content Engineer, which is already, my God, a beautiful ideological formation. A writer who engineers. It means: you are allowed to touch the machine, but only in order to remain a writer. And so on and so on."

I don't recommend crossing Fable 5.1 with a base prompt that says "always write in STE 100". It resulted in a sort of American Psycho monologue. So yeah, it got better at following style prompts.

I see increasing efforts to create skills or systems that deslopify GenAI content, such as Declaude and others. While I think this can only have limited effect, it's good that AI is forcing us to talk about what good writing means, and where and when AI generated content is okay.
