So the issue is “allow people to…“ which supposes an authority without naming one. Name it and then explain why Anthropic or any of the rest of them should have that authority.

I fear that any midterm “mandate” angry voters give them will be squandered on dinner party invites instead of building the accountability regime people are desperate for and are putting their bodies and lives on the line to get.

And I don’t even have kids, if one should ever appear, there will be a Star in the East and possibly a Seal breaking, but it’s not all about kids. It’s also about who has a claim on your stuff, who has a claim to force you to pay for their stuff (Filial responsibility) & who makes your decisions.

lol the vibe shift in AI hype feels like a ploy by U.S. tech bros to permanently keep out competitors. They are cosplaying concern so they can "regulate" their competitors out of existence. It's not about safety. It's about money.

We treat every position that should be a leadership position, like it’s a reward. Sure, it can mean recognition and compensation for additional responsibility, but like… it’s a responsibility, and it’s not JUST a responsibility to produce whatever the goal is of the group/org.

For a post I'm still working on, I did a list of all the things we know about how Davey Hearn was charged. Almost none of this is making it into coverage of the case.
There are two main witnesses who implicated Davey Hearn: a female Parks Service employee who claims he told her she was “awfully sensitive about the pool,” and Emily Miller, the right wing propagandist who captured his arrest and claimed to talk to Pirro’s people about the case; Miller may be a witness mentioned in the arrest affidavit (she blocked me when I asked if she was on Xitter).
That woman from the Parks Service did not testify to the grand jury and the investigative witness who did (MF) emphasized that her testimony “was not a sworn statement.” She’s the source of the claim that Hearn “violently” ripped at the pool liner.
There are two photographs, one posted publicly by Hearn before he was charged, and another taken by a government employee, both of which show the damage was already done before Hearn reached his hand into the water.
With regards to Hearn’s photo: the government did not present it to the grand jury (which is not a clearcut abuse) but also did not mention it in an affidavit to seize his phone (which is).
With regards to the other photo, the government seems to have claimed that the female Parks Service employee took it and obscured when it was taken; Pirro’s MTD corrects the timing and attributes the photo to another government employee. The government refused to provide Hearn with metadata to prove this before they dismissed the case.
There is CCTV footage that should have been turned over to Hearn that was not — footage that was shared with Jesse Watters so he could do propaganda to support Trump’s claims of sabotage. It almost certainly would debunk the entirety the Parks Service employee testimony.
Even if we buy Pirro’s suspect claims about what Interior turned over when or her claimed ignorance about the problems with the pool before that, we know she had notice of the problems with the pool well before July 16 or 17, when she claims DOJ discovered the problems for the first time. DOJ knew of a damage assessment Interior did — which in…

I've been watching the videos of visitors to the US for the world cup and their reactions to the US. There seem to be 2 recurring themes: 1) We're surprised, you people are very friendly and fun to party with and: 2) Your fast food is spectacular (especially Popeyes)

Anyway, I’ve got the same drum I’ve always had. No way forward without forgetting the way back. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/03/o...
There is, however, another path. People are living it every day. It is what got us excited about Minnesota. It’s what has us excited about Zohran Mamdani. There is something that is just as hopeful, that is just as pro-human as conservatism offers you, that does that without building it on other people being excised from the future. The problem we have is that we do not sell it that way because I fundamentally believe we don’t believe in it enough that way.

We have to believe that something is better and possible, and that we are building it. We do have something better than a small “c” conservative politics to offer people. There is a future where the government can work for you as surely as a megachurch works for you. And we can do that, and it’s not necessarily hard, but it isn’t easy, either.

We have to proceed from the premise that no Republican claim to power anywhere at any level is legitimate in any way. Every bill, every law, every proclamation, every ruling, all of it is fouled, none of it should be held binding on either moral sensibilities or legal standing, all must be reversed.

shoes and other ballroom problems www.theatlantic.com/newsletters/...
The president stood on the steps of the palace after the ball, watching the staffer depart.
Technically, it was the White House, not a palace yet, and it was very difficult to host balls there, a deep, intractable problem for average Americans that he feared would overshadow his legacy if he failed to solve it.
