the only people making the world confusing for teenage boys are adult men who are telling them that the world they inhabit is broken and has turned against them because people’s values have evolved in the ~30 years that they’ve ceased to be teenagers and they no longer feel in control

if you don’t teach little boys that they are part of a family or community, if you teach them weird Christofascist “head of the household” shit, while the girls are taught they have to be in charge of managing all the boys’ emotions, the toxicity of the internet is just the cherry atop a shit sundae

All kidding aside, the biggest reason to keep Poilievre out of Parliament is to change the tone. We can't operate as a civil nation when one party leader exists only to attack the other. Civil debates and factual discussions, not personal attacks and three-word slogans, please.

3. No “wedding cake” massing rules. Don’t cap the upper floor at 50% or 60% of the lower floor. You’re killing green space, functional housing and cost/efficiency in one fell swoop in the name of cutesy aesthetics. Just allow functional small housing. You’re a government not an HOA.

I think most people can't comprehend that equalization comes from the federal government, which means there isn't some magical ledger where money is siphoned from one province and handed to another province like they're separate bank accounts. We're taxed as Canadians, not provincial residents.

The alternative to naloxone (Narcan) for a fentanyl overdose outside a healthcare facility - where almost all of them in this country occur - is death. Dead people don’t recover. Fentanyl overdose is the leading cause of death for Americans 18-44. Every single fentanyl overdose death is preventable.

Fun fact: research shows that drivers yield to pedestrians at a much higher rate if you just *keep walking into the street without stopping* www.kostelecplanning.com/on-the-11th-...

Screenshot from a blog post that says "A key finding was that motorists yielded at a much higher rate when pedestrians displayed a higher level of assertiveness when crossing a street. Driver yielding rates were: 71% for pedestrians exhibiting Level 1 (high) assertiveness, 30% for Level 2 (moderate) assertiveness, and 3% for Level 3 (low) assertiveness.

The table below from that study defines these levels of assertiveness. Essentially, the drivers yielded at a much higher rate if you just keep walking rather than stopping in an attempt to make eye contact."

Table summary:
Level 1 assertiveness: no stopping before crossing
Level 2 assertiveness: body gesture, hand gesture, observing traffic from street or curb edge
Level 3 assertiveness: inattentive in street or curb edge, waiting far from curb edge

The inquiry should also look into measures around vehicle safety. Heavy overpowered SUVs & pickups kill and injure hundreds of people every year. Should look into if they need stricter licensing and better regulation.
