Previously:

The "Shut Up And Take My Money!" meme which shows Fry from Futurama angrily wafting a fistful of dollars. The image is now black and white, Fry is wearing some alien detector shades from "They Live" (1988) and the dollar bills are plain white with the words "THIS IS YOUR GOD" written on them in bold black letters.

The "Is This A Pigeon?" meme which shows an anime guy in popped collars and glasses standing outside with his hand in the air as a butterfly flits close by. The butterfly is now T. Ocellus, the eyeball octopus monster from "Alien: Earth". Two of its tentacles are embedded in the guy's temple and it's a given that his left eye's getting forcibly evicted.

The "Batman Slapping Robin" meme, but Batman is now Father Karras from "The Exorcist" (1973) and Robin is now Regan MacNeil, whose head has spun 180 degrees from the force of the blow, enabling us to see her spooky, messed up face. Her speech bubble says "YOUR MOTHER SUCKS C-" while Karras' says "THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU!".

Hey, it's another Donald Sutherland picture which also contains a +++SPOILER+++. This one is the "Leo Pointing" meme, but Leo's face has been swapped for that of Donald Sutherland's messed up, screaming alien face from the end of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1978).

In terms of being able to make it a motorway, it would probably be far easier to build a new motorway along a different route and that would of course be a challenge for all sorts of political and environmental reasons.

The A12 (dualled bit at least) has lots of places where there are historic private accesses, direct access to homes, petrol stations and geometry that doesn't meet motorway standards. It's also used by farm traffic, mopeds and learners who are banned by motorways.

With little more than the stroke of a pen*, government could allow enforcement of double yellow lines, loading bays, etc, by camera enforcement with PCNs sent by post, rather than requiring an officer to fix the paperwork to the windscreen.

It is impossible to pay 100% attention all the time. It is silly to demand this of any road user. And that is EXACTLY what the sustainable safety design philosophy used in Dutch road planning understands. Design roads so that when someone misses something it doesn't immediately result in deaths.

Leuven might be the best cycling city you’ve never heard of. 37% of trips are by bike; not by accident, but by years of rethinking streets, reducing car dominance and recirculating traffic. While the large capitals attract most headlines, Leuven is another example of a small city making big moves.

Great to see so many lads turn up to football training on their bikes. Lots of the younger ones cycled with parents, too, or in/on cargo bikes. I guess having great infrastructure to get there helps...! 😍

I talk a lot about major transport investment, but one of the biggest bangs for the buck policy-wise would be a full pavement parking ban and more rigid enforcement of traffic rules. Enforcement is so lax that this stuff is just completely normalised now, and it's unacceptable.
