A bit of litter picking with my local community gardening group and we stopped to admire this little bed which one of us planted up a while back and has finally bloomed after such a hot summer! 🙂

Whilst I've been in Manchester this week, a project I'm very excited about has kicked off; I went to have a look at it today. It's tightening up of this junction (look closely and you can see the old and new kerb lines) plus a parallel zebra linking across to the road opposite (behind the post box)

A highway construction site at a T junction. There are lots of orange plastic barriers around the site. The original kerb line on one side of the junction is still visible, and the new kerbs have been set out in position . The distance pedestrians will have to cross the side road is going to be much shorter, and vehicles will have to slow down to make the turn. Opposite the side road, on the other side of the main road, is a road which has an historic modal filter. This is going to be opened up to allow cycles through, and a parallel zebra will enable people to cross the main road safely.

Just saw a woman riding a Tern HSD dragging another two kids bikes behind her and I wish I was the kind of person who would shout "YEAHHH GURRRLLLL!" across the road but I'm not so I'm just gonna post here that I felt very happy and proud to see it ☺️

Terrible policy when domestic transport is the biggest contributor to greenhouse gases in the UK. We need to be going all-in on helping people AWAY from reliance on fossil fuels, not subsidising their use even more than we already do.

Hard to work out from this article but this was a 84 year old (fit and healthy) pedestrian who was hit and killed by a car driver. (He happened to be a former president of the Chartered Institute of Housing as well as a much loved member of the local community)

A little jaunt across town today for a site meeting and went past the AFC Bournemouth stadium where they are in a race against time to get their expansion works completed by the start of the season... 😬

For the 5th consecutive year child casualties have flat-lined at around 13,000 road casualties of age 16 and under. In what other area of life would the death or injury of 13,000 children be "acceptable"? The government has a Road Safety Strategy that aims to reduce child KSIs by 70%.

Looks like we still won't get any rain down here on the south coast! 😩 It has been WEEKS now since we had any. On the plus side, it's nice leaving my garden furniture cushions outside all the time. On the downside, the garden is burnt to a crisp and the planet is burning. Ho hum.

More needs to be made of the fact that fuel duty has been frozen since 2011 PLUS an additional 5p CUT (which was supposed to be temporary) since 2022. At enormous cost to the country.
