Sometimes I remember that I have a substack. Anyway, I’m writing about ambition at the end of the world. open.substack.com/pub/rachelma...
The front screen of a post on substack called “writing at the end of the world lolsob” about bunkers rabbits and romance novels “I’m not sure what the point of ambition is when the ice caps are melting, but humans innately have it. Can you imagine Noah being proud of his ark, putting in that final nail and saying, “Hell yeah, look at those three hundred cubits of pretty great work.”

I have a short story out today in @pshares.bsky.social about rabbits and the end of the world(?). It was a short story that thought it was going to be a novel and I did all kinds of research at the state fair with rabbit judges. I learned a lot and didn’t need most of it, but look at these bunnies.

Every time I read The Great Gatsby, the final paragraph brings me to tears. Breathtakingly powerful writing:
"I'm alive!" said Gatsby, roaring past on a speedboat. He'd faked his own death and gotten away with everything. That's why they called him the Great Gatsby. "Out of the way, current!" he yelled at the water. "This speedboat is bearing me ceaselessly into the future!"
