I was just typing something about the new Japanese movie All of a Sudden, and a little bubble popped up next to it saying "Concision: 'Suddenly' would be a better way to say this." If I could make the program that did this scream and beg for mercy, I would do it and sleep just fine tonight.

On the one hand, the advice that the Gambler gives Kenny Rogers is way too vague to be useful. On the other, "And somewhere in the darkness, the Gambler, he broke even" may be my favorite line in all of music.

I've been looking at this BART Golden Gate Bridge image for years. Finally checked to see what 1960s engineers had to say. Was the bridge built for trains? Could BART safely run on the bridge? And how would trains get there? (An elevated track on Lombard?) 🚆 🌁 www.sfchronicle.com/totalsf/arti...

BART once planned to cross the Golden Gate Bridge. Then politics got in the way
Before the Transbay Tube was built, BART dreamed of crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. Here’s why it never happened.

He was sometimes described as the last of the true calypso singers. But in fact he simultaneously preserved calypso tradition and invented it anew.

l've been a SA advocate for decades:
NEVER go to campus resources for a SA. Call a rape care hotline/program (off campus), get a SA advocate (they're free), go to a SART hospital for care (and evidence collection if you choose).
They activate the police. Schools have NO business in this process and will minimize and bury it. It's a criminal matter, not an administrative matter.
Period. No exceptions.

AP Stylebook warns against anthropomorphizing AI systems: “Avoid language that gives them human characteristics… Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.”
APStylebook @APStylebook

Artificial intelligence systems do not think, feel, want or understand. Avoid language that gives them human characteristics. This is called anthropomorphizing, when we ascribe human traits, emotions or behaviors to non-human things, such as animals or inanimate objects.
Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.

The 1998 detective movie Twilight (no, not *that* Twilight) isn't great, but it has several scenes where Newman and James Garner are trying to out-relax each other, and it's incredible. The spiritual opposite of movies where two young alpha males try to act each other off the screen. So fun.

So what if Trump “bans” CNN, MSNOW & POLITICO from the WH? Hearing him lie in person is the least important part of their jobs although they treat it as the most important. No journalism ever happens there. Reporting Watergate, I don’t think Woodward & Bernstein ever stepped foot in the White House.
