great post by Jason Bell about researcher safety Participants can disclose & expose us to personal, harrowing info (in contexts you really would not expect). Protecting your empathy, compassion and wellbeing as a researcher is crucial. Who listens to the people who are professional listeners?

A fun, affordable hobby is: 1. Turning up in random well-to-do Cotswold villages wearing a hi-vis vest with a picture of a wind turbine on it, and a hard hat. 2. Taking measurements of the village green and any other open space, and enthusiastically writing notes on a clipboard.

Government folks, join service assessments and peer reviews! 🤩 There is so much for you to learn from your colleagues in other departments and other parts of government. Today, I was in a #ServiceStandard peer review with @simonecarrier.bsky.social from @digital-agentur.de and @nfelger.bsky.social.

I do think we're going to have so many little pockets of creative revolution emerging over the next few years. If you think how fast AI disdain has emerged since 2022, I don't think this moment of saturation is going to stay around for such a long time.

Just got back from visiting my best friend in Spain. He told me to bring my camera for the night sky. The stars aligned over the mountain outside his house, and I captured the galactic core of the Milky Way. Absolutely wild! It was my very first time trying astrophotography, and I'm super happy!
a vertical, full-bleed astrophotography shot of the Milky Way core stretching diagonally across a deep blue night sky. A dense band of stars and dark dust lanes cuts from the upper left toward the lower right corner. The bottom of the frame features a dark silhouette of a rolling mountain ridge in Ibi, Spain, against a faint, low-horizon light pollution glow. In the bottom-left corner, clean white text reads the date "09.08.2026".

Denmark just passed a law that every person owns a copyright to their own face, voice, and body. In the age of AI, this places more legal control in a person's hands, and there are real, large consequences and fines for breaking this law. We need to make this worldwide.
