Nice lede
IN AUGUST 2025, Katie Zacharia, who debuted this week as President Trump's new press secretary, appeared on Fox News to lambast the "brazen" and"callous" street takeover drivers of Los Angeles who have "not faced consequences for the last decade under Soros-backed" district attorneys.

"They do not care about human life," Zacharia declared

What Zacharia didn't say on air was that, the very same day she was denouncing reckless drivers on L.A. streets, she was due to complete traffic school for the latest of multiple distracted-driving infractions that she has racked up across Southern California.

you can't be serious. This reads Meta/Facebook/Insta is looking to grant itself the rights to scrape websites across the open web - and train Meta's AI - if a company after Oct 30, 2026 uses Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or other Meta services. So every biz. Read that again. Outrageous. 1/5

Strange Houses is definitely the winner for me in this batch. And Buildings felt the worst. Pictures was fine but has been extra sad because it deals so much with children and grief. I’ll pick up Strange Maps at some point I’m sure

I’ve been on an Uketsu tear lately. I read Strange Houses and then Strange Buildings and now Strange Pictures. The books are all a little spooky and a little boring all at the same time, in a way that’s comforting but also full of little murders and charming illustrations.

A definite sign of ageing is that you cannot impress me with "over 20 years" anymore. Am I expected to think this sauce is ancient, because it's as old as Nelly Furtado's Maneater?

Saw a previous client pop up on Facebook with a new fully ai cover. There were fifty comments from readers telling her they’d never read the book and were disappointed in her for using ai. And two people who were pro ai trying to polish a turd. It was really shocking how angry the readers were

Love that some execs are paid hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and yet still need to do studies to determine that teaching people how to do their jobs well makes them better at doing their jobs.
Microsoft found that “adding agents to a broken process still leaves a broken process” and “speeding up one step just creates a longer queue at the next”, Hogan’s blogpost reads. The company found that focusing on employee training, particularly pairing up early-career engineers with more seasoned employees, boosted productivity
