The Pentagon is notifying millions of current and former U.S. military servicemembers and staff that hackers stole their *unencrypted* personal information during a months-long data breach. - I saw Fran Lebowitz speak earlier this year & she talked about how Oprah might have encouraged a lot of people to get into reading but she did so by referring to books as mirrors where you should see yourself reflected RATHER than viewing books as windows into the experiences of others.

Why is the U.S. public so much more negative on AI than almost anyone else? Well, I think the fact that the U.S. AI industry is being lead by a bunch of very visible, crazy weirdos who talk about how AI will take everyone’s job and maybe kill us all the time is a pretty key factor.

right, yes. the 2000 election was decided by a case notionally about state law, neither following nor creating any precedent, on a purely partisan basis. it did not explain itself and those who argued for it did not make the arguments which were eventually accepted and were rewarded with SC seats.
