The vast majority of creatives are struggling. Writers are leaving LA in droves. Directors are driving Uber when they aren't lucky enough to get gigs directing dubs or subs for foreign films. Recognizable actors are finding jobs they won't be recognized in. The whole industry is shitty right now.

I've said this a few times this week - the Beeb needs to adopt an Ally Pally mentality. Find studio space and give people permission to create in it. Low budget, rough around the edges, theatre, comedy, plays, drama, lectures, book at bedtime ... Just make stuff and see what sticks.

Normal people would be trying to come up with a TV show. Not too hard. The corporates however will be trying to come up with something that you rent that makes them infinitely wealthy, able to fly, and live forever, while harvesting data. (Any show would be a byproduct.) Which is harder.

Just read a Wikipedia entry for an artist and was trying to imagine the working class backgrounded version. ‘Showed great promise with art at school, but had to get a job at Aviva, worked their way up to team leader over 25 years, got made redundant, worked for a charity for 15 years.
