So it’s not “modifying BASIC programs from the back of 3-2-1 Contact magazine” anymore?
An instructional page from 3-2-1 Contact! titled "Basic Training" and featuring a colorful illustration of cartoon animals engaged in inventing activities. There are references to a programming project named "Invent-O-Matic" for Apple II and Commodore computers, alongside sample code snippets.

Box art for the video game Star Control II. A massive futuristic white starship orbits Earth while small fighters fly beneath it. In the background against a starry space backdrop, a human male's face and a menacing red, tentacled alien loom above the scene.

Dolly Parton could have been a billionaire. She could have simply used her money to make more money. Instead, she wrote a fuckin' check whenever it was helpful for her to write a check. Any of these assholes have the capability to be her, but none of them have the heart.

if you think of "speed limit" as really an energy limit (mv^2) (and it is energy that kills, not speed), the equivalent to a 20mph ebike limit would be something like 3-5mph for a two-ton SUV.

If you want to preserve old books for public access, fund libraries. If you want to make the contents of out of print books more widely available, shorten the term of copyright. Do those two things and there is no reason to stress about destructive scanning.

I am an ebike sicko and I hate these people even more because they’re fucking it up for people that just want a bike that can go uphill a little easier. We should have more light electric vehicles. Also they should have functional brakes and not pretend to be bicycles.

A punitive view of education will never have the answer to what to do when students can use AI. A view of education that cares about motivating students will. In a world where student motivation needs to be earned not just enforced it's pretty clear that's the only way to elicit effort.

New poem, “Advice”, in the latest issue of Island magazine. With thanks to poetry editor Timothy Loveday for giving it a home.
Advice

You must try the black seed, olive oil, Zamzam water, dates. I know a guy, he's legit, no chemical poison, none of that— you can't trust them-trust me. He had cancer and he beat it.
My friend's friend was cured. I heard my aunt's mother-in-law wished upon a star, and an angel turned Their face to her, and instantly her tumours vanished, wallahi, she had weeks to live in 2001, and now look at her. Don't take this the wrong way, but my second cousin made a deal with a jinn, he sold his tears, every future drop, and now he's in remission but his eyes are dry at every celebration and funeral, even his mum's, so you gotta be careful, I guess, what you wish for, but never it seems, with advice. A tidal moan, these unsolicited waves drag me out, drag me under, salty and full of eyes; I open wide, guzzle down every dank drop. How, O sudden sages, do you see yourselves ahead of me in the race to save my son? Do you truly think I haven't spun through the Book of Life and cold-called every creature under the sun, by the dark of the moon? I was arguing with a wasp yesterday after Fajr, and pleading with the ants before Dhuhr, I wept with the rain after Asr, and kissed the mulberry tree desperately around Maghrib.
I tell everyone who will listen how much of a slut I am for miracles. By Isha, I am alone again with my child, God, and fear.
