Excited to share a ginger gold with the author of Black River Orchard @chuckwendig.bsky.social. It's always a pleasure to meet someone else who isn't afraid to pick a random fruit off a tree they just found.

so i guess this morning i am just kind of meditating on the fact that when you reject AI as a creator you are not just bringing things back to the baseline, you are actually PUSHING in the other direction. you are opening space for human joy and creation and even income and that is so cool

Listen to this king at a Huntington City Council meeting on Flock Cameras:

"I'm not gonna waste your time, I'm kinda hungry, but one last thing. Every single Flock camera has about 2-3 lbs of copper and about 1-2 grams of gold. Do with that information what you will."

i really wish veggies would be the star of the show more often in western cuisine. like, there are so many more flavors and textures, and unfathomably delicable experiences that are achievable through a well prepared vegetable than could ever be achieved with meat alone

On this 6th anniversary of #covid19 , I miss all the things we did when we actually had time to spend at home. I silently mourn making pretzels and bread while 3D printing PPE, visiting friends islands on ACNH and donating stuff to their museums, and figuring out how to do drive in movie in a field.

in case you've never seen it, this is Roger Ebert on The Mummy
There is within me an unslaked hunger for preposterous adventure movies. I resist the bad ones, but when a "Congo" or an
"Anaconda" comes along, my heart leaps up and I cave in. "The Mummy" is a movie like that. There is hardly a thing I can say in its favor, except that I was cheered by nearly every minute of it. I cannot argue for the script, the direction, the acting or even the mummy, but I can say that I was not bored and sometimes I was unreasonably pleased. There is a little immaturity stuck away in the crannies of even the most judicious of us, and we should treasure it.
