I had a truly lovely time at NWO Biophysics 2026. Great questions from trainees, in both the keynote and master class. Very grateful to @drjorine.bsky.social for inviting & introducing me, Daan Brinks for chairing the program committee, and Anastasia Vinogradova for expert organization. Plus, socks!
Sarah Keller visiting Maastricht on the day after the meeting, showing off her snazzy new socks that say "NWO Biophysics". The right sock is dark blue, with white text, hot pink dots, and a bright orange edge. (You can't see the left sock, but because I know you are very curious, it is hot pink with dark blue lines, a bright orange edge, and it of course also says "NWO Biophysics"). To me, Maastricht really stands out for two outstanding renovations of churches for new applications: the Boekhandel Dominacanen and the State Archives. Worth visiting!

Captain Haddock looking very frazzled, saying, “What a week, huh?”
Tintin leans into the frame and says, “Captain, it’s Wednesday.”
Snowy aka Milou is very excited about the drink he has found.

📄 For those interested in #IDPs, #modeling and #simulation of ensembles, biomolecular #condensates, their disease relevance, and designed synthetic #LLPS applications: Our new review is now available in Curr Opin Struct Biol 🎉 🔗 Free access for the next 50 days: authors.elsevier.com/c/1nlQt,LqAr...
Experiments (NMR, SAXS, FRET, EPR spectroscopy) and simulation, as well as generative AI enables integrative modeling of IDP conformational ensembles. However these ensembles need to be evaluated, filtered and compared against each other other. Besides monomeric state simulation, multi-copy simulation can also reproduce condensation-type droplet formation (usually coarse-grained MD or Monte Carlo simulation) and this enables to map out an LLPS phase diagram.
