Alex is far from the only British commentator who plainly believes e.g. the destruction of the Gaza Strip and the ethnic cleansing of southern Lebanon are a valiant battle by regrettably fascist white heroes against the black horde of Mordor. But how did this wildly extreme position become dominant?

BEER KLAXON: Forbel Tripel, 8.4%. Lidl's own brand, brewed in Belgium. £1.49 a bottle. It's... OK. I you're a fan of Leffe Blond, you'll like this a lot, it's very similar. Dry, lots of pear, dry, hoppy finish. Stupidly good value, but not something I'd drink in preference to the classics. 7.1/10

I try not to use the term when others are more appropriate, but this is just gaslighting. Most of Gaza is destroyed to bulldozed rubble and nobody who matters is even speaking up about it, because they know what would happen to them and their careers if they do.
The Green Party's decision to equate Zionism with racism is shameful. Jewish self-determination is not racism. We can challenge the Israeli government and defend Palestinian rights without denying that principle.
