Some idiot arranged a 5.30am bus call for the first day of the tour. I've sacked both booking agent and tour manager.

Well, this archaeologist is staggered at the response to the oldest pub film! Currently on 150,000+ views. After less than 2 days up its already the third most watched video in Historic England's archive! Thanks everyone 🙂 youtu.be/RlyvHJtptbc?...

Had some people ask why I'm not gigging the book in Cumbria, Lancs & Suffolk. Put simply: because no one offered to organise a show. I'm still accepting reasonable gig offers for Jan to July 2027. If your region isn't included, get in touch to book: triskeleheritage.com/contact/

It's 30 years since I came to study at the University of Nottingham. By complete chance, I find myself on campus this morning. Took the opportunity to visit the Lenton Firs Rock Garden for the 1st time! Built in the early 20thC for the Shipstone brewing family who lived here.

We moved back to Nottingham a decade ago. Absolutely *loved* our 6 years in London. Working at MOLA sharpened my career, introduced me to so many people & opened doors. Sadly, we couldn't afford to raise a family in London so we moved away. 📸 Working at the Tower of London

Oakhampton castle was constructed about the same time as the one we are about the dig up, except the one in Great Torrington has no standing ruins above ground. It’s great to have a comparative example to explore before excavations start tomorrow! 🪏🏰 #archaeology #castle

A real pleasure to survey The Bell Inn at Whittington (Staffs) alongside Robert, whose family ran the pub for ~140 years! We spotted 5 phases of construction, all visible in this shot (although what can't be seen are the reused mediaeval timbers). Cracking pint of Citra too! 🍺

A house that I surveyed has been listed; this is a first for Triskele Heritage! Following fieldwork at 45 Cliff Street in Whitby, the landowner sent the report to Historic England as supporting evidence for why the building should be listed grade II... and they accepted it🙂

Musing on the My Chemical Romance number Welcome to the Black Parade. It sounds like a whole album's worth of material whilst being a solid 5 minute banger. So much going on! "So paint it black and take it back!" being my fave lyric 🖤

I wonder if the landlord, George Ward, had any idea that his 1909 marketing scam to propose that Ye Olde Trip to Jersalem was 'the oldest inn in England' would still be paying merch dividends in 2026!? I'm sure the old fraud would be pleased! More info: triskeleheritage.com/mediaeval-my...

Considering how many less than optimal gigs I've seen The Sisters of Mercy croak their way through... last night at Rock City was bloody triumphant. Having a stable line up for pretty much three years has paid off. Well done, lads.
