Having the items put into ur bag/room was probably the only option for FRLG and BDSP, gen 3 doesn't have modern myster gift and gen 4 never had a azure flute event

As of rn, their solution for BDSP and FRLG is basically slightly modifying the code so the key items are injected into your bag or player's room postgame. If theyre allowed minimal alteration to avoid having go thru ratings boards again, doing something similar via mystery gift is the simplest way.

And in-game events started requiring pkmn locked behind mystery gift, or would lack in-game events entirely. Victini was the last one. So they'd have to figure out another way. Best way imo is to have the mystery gift active at all times in future ports since you can just talk to the pokemart guy

Thing is, events like that are in the code, just locked away with an event flag and a key item, which is very simple to add. From HGSS onwards, they stopped having those pokemon in the actual game already...

had to screenshot it. some of the games just lack in-game events, so to account for all past mythicals, they'd have to get creative.

My ideal set up:

RBY port - Non-shiny Mew dex reward

GSC - In-game Celebi, unknown for dex reward

RSE - In-game Mew, Deoxys, Shiny Jirachi dex reward

DPPt - In-game Shaymin, Darkrai and Arceus?, Non-shiny Manaphy Dex Reward?

HGSS - either shiny Celebi or Spiky-ear Pichu dex reward.

Sinjoh Ruins accessible via DPPt Arceus

BW - in-game non-shiny Victini, Shiny Victini dex reward

B2W2 - Shiny Genesect dex reward (other non-shiny versions of other mythicals available via permenant mystery gift)

XY - Shiny Diancie Dex Reward (other non-shiny versions of other mythicals available via permanent mystery gift)

ORAS - Shiny Hoopa Dex Reward

SM - Shiny Marshadow or Magearna Dex Reward

USUM - Shiny Zeraora Dex Reward

It especially makes sense if it can be transferred back into FRLG, akin to how pokemon with the Let's Go mark can go back to LGPE if they haven't been sent to any other games.

It was only available via the Jpn Colo bonus disc. All the others had some other method (no matter how dubious) Mew was in Emerald Jirachi had the Colo/Channel bonus disc Deoxys was in Emerald/FRLG. Not intuitive, but it fills a gap/makes sense, esp. if Jirachi is the dex reward for RSE.

It was the only pokemon that was entirely inaccessible to people outside of Japan during Gen 3. Not just shiny locked, but outside of events it was just not available. No hunting methods or anything.
