What's the medium- and long-term impact in an age of ChatGPT, Gemini & Claude on undergraduate and MA teaching quality of stripping research out from it. AI makes teaching content alone in many subjects less valuable and teaching 'what's a research question, how do I frame/answer one?' matter more.

The big but hidden impact of the implosion of smaller regional universities is the pressure on research academics to prioritise teaching or switch to teaching contracts and abandon research as a frivolous pursuit in this financially unstable crisis. This will dramatically shrink future scholarship.
