Had a busy week with work but finally finished this. I enjoyed it, mostly. Definitely a series with diminishing returns. It's quite a depressing story, and there's a tragic end for almost everyone introduced in book 1 still alive. I'm Dune'd out now so am taking a break before God-Emperor!

Going for the third book now. Messiah was a tough read - not quite managing to bridge the political and philosophical themes it raised - but it ended satisfyingly enough. The first 50 pages of Children go straight back to the Dune basics and I’m enjoying it a lot more.
