Everyone’s expectations got skewed over the past week but Abdul El-Sayed getting $70 million spent against him in a state he lost a primary by like 20 points eight years ago and still winning last night is probably the most impressive electoral accomplishment of the decade.

I dunno but it should probably be a bigger deal that the White House announced it wants to slap a 100% tariff on drug imports at the same time it is eliminating Medicare drug subsidies. And we’re talking about critical life-saving drugs like insulin, blood thinners, antibiotics, and heart meds.
India supplies approximately 50% of all U.S. generic drugs, and these face the highest tariff
rates:
• Antibiotics: Penicillin, amoxicillin
• Cardiovascular medications: Generic versions of cholesterol drugs, blood thinners
• Diabetes medications: Metformin, insulin analogs
• Pain relievers: Ibuprofen, acetaminophen
2. China-Dependent Active Ingredients
China supplies active ingredients for:
• >95% of ibuprofen and acetaminophen
• ~45% of penicillin
• Many other commonly used medications' base components

This concept was introduced to me as "run the dishwasher twice" and was an important part of my executive functioning recovery as well as my path to self-acceptance.
When I was at one of my lowest (mental) points in life, I couldn't get out of bed some days. I had no energy or motivation and was barely getting by.

I had therapy once per week, and on this particular week I didn't have much to 'bring' to the session. He asked how my week was and I really had nothing to say.

'What are you struggling with?' he asked.

I gestured around me and said 'I dunno man. Life.'

Not satisfied with my answer, he said 'No, what exactly are you worried about right now? What feels overwhelming? When you go home after this session, what issue will be staring at you?'

I knew the answer, but it was so ridiculous that I didn't want to say it. I wanted to have something more substantial.
Something more profound.

But I didn't.

So I told him, 'Honestly? The dishes. It's stupid, I know, but the more I look at them the more I CAN'T do them because I'll have to scrub them before I put them in the dishwasher, because the dishwasher sucks, and I just can't stand and scrub the dishes.'

I felt like an idiot even saying it.

What kind of grown ass woman is undone by a stack of dishes? There are people out there with *actual* problems, and I'm whining to my therapist about dishes?

But he nodded in understanding and then said:

'RUN THE DISHWASHER TWICE.'I began to tell him that you're not supposed to, but he stopped me.

'Why the hell aren't you supposed to? If you don't want to scrub the dishes and your dishwasher sucks, run it twice. Run it three times, who cares?! Rules do not exist.'

It blew my mind in a way that I don't think I can properly express.

That day, I went home and tossed my smelly dishes haphazardly into the dishwasher and ran it three times.

I felt like I had conquered a dragon.

The next day, I took a shower lying down.

A few days later. I folded my laundry and put them wherever the fuck they fit.

There were no longer arbitrary rules I had to follow, and it gave me the freedom to make accomplishments again.

Now that I'm in a healthier place, I rinse off my dishes and put them in the dishwasher properly. I shower standing up. I sort my laundry.

But at a time when living was a struggle instead of a blessing, I learned an incredibly important lesson:

THERE ARE NO RULES. RUN THE DISHWASHER TWICE!!!"

Good reminder of how hard it is to access health insurance for people who are disabled by their conditions but in the waiting period for coverage for SSDI/Medicare. The mortality during the wait period for people with cancer (neoplasms) is nearly 40%. www.healthaffairs.org/doi/epdf/10....
Graphic shows the 24-month mortality rate for different conditions for people who are in the 2 year waiting period for obtaining social security disability insurance. Shows nearly 40% mortality for cancer, followed by about 15% digestive diseases, blood diseases, and HIV/AIDS. Lack of health insurance coverage during this period likely contributes to these higher rates of death.

The Trump admin's latest strategy to mass generate removal orders is diabolical: - Take a huge group of people with hearings scheduled in late 2026, 2027, or 2028. - Send them a physical letter rescheduling all of their cases to next week. - Those who inevitably miss court get ordered deported.

Which is precisely why the Food Traceability Rule matters. FSMA Section 204 requires lot-level records at every critical tracking event and delivery of those records to FDA in a standard electronic format within twenty-four hours. It was supposed to be in force on January 20 of this year. FDA proposed pushing it to July 2028, and Congress made that stick. Had it been operating, the twenty-seven-state distribution list and the real names behind those eight codes would have been in FDA's hands in a day — in May. Instead we got them in the third week of July, from a corporate website, as abbreviations.

It took a team of AP reporters about 2 days to get this information. The same information ICE could have gotten before they hired the man who said he shot and killed an immigrant in Maine.
In late 2025, around the time he joined ICE, his ex-wife Ashley said he left a three-minute voicemail mocking her for taking out a restraining order against him. According to the message she shared with AP, he repeatedly called her "disgusting" and suggested that she and the other women and girls in her "bloodline" should die.
"And all of you should have your f----g throats cut," the voicemail said. "Yeah, you should. Am I threatening that I'm gonna do that? Nope. Nope. But do I think that you should have your f——-g throats cuts? Or should have had them cut? Yep."

this was indeed the conclusion of my article recapping Todd Blanche's nomination hearing ballsandstrikes.org/law-politics...
screenshotted excerpt of the linked article reading as follows:

It is reasonable for Cornyn and Tillis to want real assurances that the slush fund is dead. But doing so overlooks the problems with Blanche’s creation of the slush fund in the first place. Earlier this week, a federal judge found that Blanche’s actions in Trump v. IRS reflected an abdication of his responsibility to “zealously defend” the interests of the United States. The judge had a copy of the court’s opinion sent to the New York bar, which is currently conducting disciplinary proceedings following an ethics complaint about Blanche.

In other words, a couple of Republicans have mild doubts over whether Blanche is qualified to be the top attorney in the country. They should have strong doubts over whether he’s qualified to be an attorney at all.
