the scarborough busway should inspire the city to look into longer, more permanent busways on available right-of-ways that can produce rapid transit speeds at cheaper cost and timelines. the one with greatest potential, i think, is finch east. this would transform east-west travel in scarborough.
Finch busway concept along the hydro corridor from finch west station to around Malvern. Various branches that leave the busway depicted, to Milliken, Scarborough Centre, and deeper into Malvern

Edmonton's small-scale infill has led to thousands of homes built for in the places people want to live, millions of dollars invested in this province, and a stable demand for construction jobs. We don't need the province making it harder to build homes. Freedom to build: that's the Alberta way.
Christine called ☎️ in about the infills going up in her community. She is not the only one.

Edmontonians have been telling me the same thing for weeks.

I am listening. Would appreciate seeing your comments below from folks who live in Edmonton. What do you think about infill and blanket rezoning?"Stacked area chart showing H1 building permits issued in Edmonton from 2009 to 2026, broken down by four neighborhood types (Downtown, Mature, Between Mature and Henday, and Outside Henday) and seven project types (Single detached, Addition/Conversion, Backyard House, Duplex to Fourplex, Fiveplex to Eightplex, 9+ Row House, and 9+ Apartment). Downtown shows minimal permits throughout the period. Mature neighborhoods peak at over 3,000 permits in 2024, dominated by single-detached homes. Between Mature and Henday and Outside Henday neighborhoods show more volatile trends, with Outside Henday reaching nearly 4,000 permits in 2023. Single-detached homes (dark purple) comprise the largest share across most neighborhoods and years, while apartment and row house projects (orange tones) remain a smaller but consistent portion.

Only around 40% of rush hour traffic at Bloor and Shaw in Toronto is made up of cars. Before the bike lanes on Bloor, over 80% of traffic was cars. Now more commuters pass through the intersection, although raw number of cars has decreased. If you build it, they will come.

The audacity to scoff at this question when a journalist on the hill just affirmed they were given access to this MORE THAN 200 PAGE bill less than 30 MINUTES before this press conference. How the fuck do you ask informed questions under those conditions? Spoiler: you can't.

This ignores the fact that OKC has a footprint almost twice the size of Edmonton and a population density almost 3 times smaller.

as someone who talks to transit users everyday for work, i concur: service speed & reliability is the number one complaint *by far* when it comes to the TTC. there haven't been any ambitious transit promises to this end yet, though the mayor has an opportunity to flex that with recent rapidTO wins

I’m more sympathetic to transit safety than some. I’ve had experiences in cities that did put me off transit there (especially now with a child). But not in Toronto or Montreal, the two cities I’ve used transit in most. I’ve never hesitated to take transit there/here.
