I am grateful to have the support of ATU Local 113, who represent 12,000 public transit workers across Toronto. I'm committed to improving TTC services, fighting to keep our transit system public, and ensuring that workers continue to have good jobs. Thank you for your support!

Happy Labour Day! I was proud to march alongside so many fellow workers in today’s parade. As a former CUPE steward and president, I will always stand in solidarity with the workers who keep Toronto moving. Workers built — and continue to build — our city.

I'm honoured to have the support and endorsement of David Miller, our city's former Mayor and a fellow Parkdale—High Park resident.
Picture of a tall, white haired man smiling in a blue blazer. He has his hand on the shoulder of a dark-haired woman in a brown jacket, who also smiles at the camera. The photo has a pink frame, with text that reads "David Miller, Former Mayor of Toronto, Endorses Diana Chan McNally."Dark purple text on a light background, with a picture of a smiling man with white hair in the top right of the image. The text reads, "Diana has made a significant difference to the lives of our neighbours through her work on building affordable housing. She immediately organized when Doug Ford threatened our waterfront with Jets, and she supports badly needed local solutions to the climate crisis that, in partnership with others, can help prevent more extreme weather events like the wildfire smoke this summer. Diana is effective, principled and clear. She has my support to serve all of Parkdale-High Park as our next City Councillor."

We already have involuntary treatment in Ontario. My cousin was forced into it multiple times; she died anyway. This isn't a silver bullet — it's a rights violation that isn't backed by evidence. Let alone because drug treatment continues to be unregulated in ON. www.qpbriefing.com/news/ontario...

Desperate and sad. But we can't lose sight of the fact that the province is still in control of our waterfront lands — we can't underestimate their intentions to develop it, beyond just an airport expansion.

Today, over 30 Parkdale—High Park residents accompanied me to MP Karim Bardeesy's office. Why? To deliver my petition demanding that the federal government stop the expansion of Billy Bishop Airport, as well as be heard directly and face-to-face by his office — not just online.

Revisiting this tweet from 2023, when I worked at the Ontario Legislature, which is beyond relevant today.
A tweet from @DianaCMcNally which read,s "You can smell smoke inside Queen's Park. Doug Ford won't recognize this as a symptom of climate change and is forging ahead with fossil fuels, which will ultimately cause more fires. He's cut funding to fight forest fires, for climate-ready infrastructure. Ontario is burning."

There is nothing normal about the air quality today, and any politician who isn't prioritizing climate action is putting people and planet at risk. This is a small intervention, but the City of Toronto does maintain Cleaner Air Spaces if you are struggling with the air today.

My statement on the events last night at the Salsa on St. Clair Festival.
My statement on the events last night at the Salsa on St. Clair Festival. It is a graphic of white text on a black background, with a dark purple frame. It reads:

"I want to express my deepest condolences to everyone impacted last night by the shooting at the Salsa on St. Clair Festival.

I grieve with the friends and families of the two people who were killed in this senseless act of violence. I wish a swift and full recovery to those injured in the midst of what should have been a celebration. I stand with everyone in Toronto who is feeling upended and unsafe.

Neighbourhood celebrations should be spaces where we build joy and community — not feel afraid or be at risk. I am angry that this has been taken from us, but I also know that as a community, we can come together to build it back.

Please check in on your friends and neighbours — Toronto is always strongest when we stand together and care for one another."

Ontario PCs are not fiscal conservatives — that much is clear. But every time someone gets angry at City Council for property tax increases, they should look at another target: Doug Ford. When cities are forced to fulfill provincial mandates, municipal property taxes fill in the gaps.

Pedestrianize more streets! Not only is it not novel, it's also not complicated — or shouldn't be. But doing it right requires the city to implement a formal “pedestrian street” designation — something that quixotically has taken years to develop. Why?
thestar.com
Matt Elliott: Other cities close streets to cars all the time. So why does Toronto get tripped up by the idea of a pedestrian street?
Creating a bit of long-term dedicated space for pedestrians in Toronto is not something that should require years of study.

I fought for the City of Toronto to fund emergency water distribution to homeless people during heat waves and Brad Bradford, our would-be Mayor, actively voted against it. The good news is that I won anyway. No one who votes against basic resources for the most vulnerable people should lead.

This is also happening in Ottawa. And Hamilton. And in every Ontario city where Premier Ford has legislated the closure of safe consumption sites. Olivia Chow didn't do this. Or increase homelessness province-wide to 85,000 people — an 8% jump in just the past year alone.
A tweet from Warren Kinsella, who was fired from Olivia Chow's campaign years ago, that reads:

Just passed a young person in a fentanyl crouch on Rosedale Valley Road in Toronto. Broad daylight, beside a daycare.

Welcome to Olivia Chow's city.

Voting is just one small facet of democracy. Having spent years fighting every level of government, I can definitively say that there's so much we can do outside of elections to build power, as well as joy, connection, and community. @shawnmicallef.bsky.social offers some good ways to get started:

We can both combat hate while protecting people’s Charter rights. Unfortunately, Bill C-9 does not do that. Instead, it criminalizes peaceful, yet disruptive protest, which is fundamentally different then expressions of hate. If we don’t understand that, then how can we actually address real hate?

Our natural and cultural heritage — whether it's the waterfront, or irreplaceable cultural artifacts — are not for sale. But Premier Ford, for all of his masquerading as "Captain Canada," treats everything that makes Toronto and Ontario distinct and beautiful as an asset to sell. It's revolting.

Official procedure of the Toronto Police Service is to not fire at a vehicle which is presenting a hazard to police and/or the public, as this is considered "ineffective": tps.ca/media/proced... The public deserves further context on why this response was deployed.
Taken from: https://www.tps.ca/media/procedures/25983345-ab50-4dd6-b5ed-72d7cca2c35e.pdf

"Discharging a firearm at a motor vehicle is an ineffective method of disabling the vehicle. Discharging a firearm at a motor vehicle may present a hazard to both the officer and to the public. Police officers are prohibited from discharging a firearm at a motor vehicle for the sole purpose of disabling the vehicle. Police officers shall not discharge a firearm at the operator or occupants of a motor vehicle unless there exists an immediate threat of death or grievous bodily harm to officers and/or members of the public by a means other than the vehicle. Police officers shall be cognizant that disabling the operator of the motor vehicle thereby disabling the control over the motor vehicle may also present a hazard to both the officer and the public. Except while in a motor vehicle, officers shall not place themselves in the path of an occupied motor vehicle with the intention of preventing its escape. Additionally, officers should not attempt to disable an occupied vehicle by reaching into it. Pursuant to Procedure 13–03 and 13–05, any apparent breach of this Procedure will be carefully considered on its merits having regard to all the circumstances before discipline is commenced."

Two people stand in front of a red van smiling and laughing. The van door is open, revealing a dozen bags of donated clothes and other items. One person is wearing multi-colour striped shorts and shirt. They have a shaved head and close-cropped beard, as well as earrings and bright yellow nail polish. The other has short, dark hair, and is wearing a white shirt and denim shorts while holding a coffee. Five people stand in front of a red van, which is open to reveal dozens of bags. Everyone is smiling, and three people are giving the peace sign. A person with short, dark hair wearing a white shirt and denim shorts hands a black-and-white bag filled with clothing to a man wearing a green plaid shirt and jeans. Behind them, a person with a shaved head and close-cropped beard in a striped short and short ensemble walks toward them. A red van can be seen in the background.
