Covenant
Adult standalone
Gothic Gaslamp Romantasy
109,500 words

pitch and comps
After their one-night stand ends in hurt, Rowan, a hedonistic occultist, and Darshil, a repressed poet, vow to never see each other again. That is, until they begin sharing visions that herald the apocalypse. Forced together, Rowan and Darshil plunge into London's occult underbelly to try and save the world from eternal darkness. But as the Veil slowly thins and old passions reignite, Rowan realises the truth lies in memories he swore to forget, and that the past is a shallow grave, easily unearthed.
The Magpie Lord
A Marvellous Light
The Gentleman and his Vowsmith
Penny Dreadful

Themes and tropes:
dual POV
Achillean romance
second chance romance
forced proximity
only one bed
opposites attract
gothic decadence
big spooky house
bisexual awakening
exploration of grief
horror as a metaphor
dreams-based magic
the occult
alternate London setting

Extracts
It was a poet’s job to seek out beauty, to be mesmerised by it. Darshil wanted to transform Rowan into swirls of ink, to fit his hands into the slight dips where Rowan’s waist met his hips and write him a thousand times over.
The only thing more fascinating than death was the tormented living it left behind.
It helped to hate him. It was less painful than loving him.
The dead thing woke to the acrid stench of its own rot.
Rowan matched him tenderness for tenderness, giving everything he could and knowing that for once, his everything was enough.
Perhaps closing his eyes stopped it meaning anything. Darshil knew he should do the same. This was shame beyond anything else, a secret to take to the unloving grave.
He kept his eyes open anyway. With Rowan beneath him, as beautiful as the dawn, he couldn’t bear to look away.

The Comps: Nightshade by Autumn Woods, Netflix's Wednesday, Deathbringer by Sonia Tagliareni, and Silver Elite by Dani Francis

An Excerpt with a snake: What’s your name, ghost girl?” Carsten asks, his lips quirking up in a half-smile that feels like a challenge.

The room warms. So warm that sweat prickles the back of my neck. I glance at the clock over the fireplace again. Terror wraps around me like the snake dancing on his forearm. I need to get out of here.

He cocks his head to the side, waiting, and I debate lying. There are no benefits to a demon knowing your name. Except my mind is blank. I can’t remember any goddess-blessed name except my own.

Between Fractures of Light
Adult Romantic Portal Fantasy

$PITCH The desolate world from Augusta’s dreams starts to blur into a chilling reality when a specter of swirling mist and shadows begins haunting her and kidnaps her childhood best friend, Theo. When the encroaching shadows come for her next, Augusta is rescued by an impossibly familiar stranger with eyes of fire, and together they journey into a world consumed by Darkness, an entity that feeds on despair and rot. There, the shadows hold Theo—and the world—captive. As she begins to fall for the man guiding her through the starless land, the line between the two realities starts to fracture. Augusta must face who she truly is and the choice carved into fate long ago: sacrifice the world she’s only just come to understand (along with her best friend) or the love she’s finally found. Before the Darkness consumes them both.$

SNIPPET

She blinked, and the figure was gone. Or maybe she was just seeing things again.

“Theo—” she started, but he wasn’t beside her anymore. “Theo?”

The movement returned. It grew into the shape of a person and then into something beyond. Long fingers, crooked spine, head warped. Panic rose in her throat.

Smell. Sound. Taste. Touch. Sight. Think, Augusta. Think. It’s not real.

What can you smell? Popcorn. What can you hear? The laughter of children, Christmas music. What can you taste? The cider in hand. What can you touch? The scarf around my neck. What can you see? The shadow in the shape of a person.

Augusta froze.

It hadn’t gone away. Instead, it only grew larger, more ominous. It rose in the night till it towered over the tents, the moon behind it blocked out by its mass.

A glimpse of tangled blond curls appeared in her periphery, light against the growing darkness. A hanging light exploded with a pop but no one reacted. Unease clawed at her insides.

“THEO!”

Theo turned, mouth agape. His green eyes met hers, and he pushed forward, towards her, his rainbow scarf flapping in the wind behind him.

Long black claws wrapped around his middle and yanked him back into the shadows.

A woman with large black wings attached to her shoulder blades.
Text: Pluck by Sierra Moeykens. Pride & Prejudice x Howl's Moving Castle x Graceling

An illustrated lady in a Regency era dress with large black wings over a ballroom background.

Text: The Pitch
Nineteen-year-old Lucy Korvas has worse problems than complying with high society’s tedious etiquette — she must steal a diamond necklace from the Duchess of Thistal, or her cursed father will perish.
In an alternate, magical Regency era where ladies and gentlemen with improper magic are shunned from high society, Lucy Korvas has hidden a pair of giant, unladylike crow wings beneath her dresses for years, but tonight she risks exposing them to save her cursed father. She needs that diamond necklace to afford his cure. How dastardly it is, then, when she discovers soft-spoken Lord Simon pilfering his own mother’s jewelry first.
But when Lucy and Simon are cursed while trying to steal the necklace, Lucy slowly transforms into a crow and Simon starts dissolving into flower petals. Lucy must find a cure while posturing as the presentable, composed lady that she isn't before she loses her cursed father, the shy gentleman she's becoming smitten with, and her humanity.

NAUSICAÄ X FF7 Nature is decaying, nobles are hoarding magic, and demons prey on everyone. A possible chosen one, a man who failed his destiny, and a woman rejected by fate must work together for one last chance to save the dying world. #BluePit📖 #A #F #Q #agentguide #BluePit

Dark forest. An agent's guide to The Blessing Returned. Adult fantasy. 98,000 words.

Dark forest. Pitch. Idealistic Hana Hahl lives in a world that is slowly dying after a failed quest to bring back magic. The only ones left with power are self-serving royals and dark mages, while desperation has given rise to an anti-magic order. Caught up in a mystical event, Hana is blessed with an immense power that could restore nature to the world. As Hana struggles to control the overwhelming force, Lady Kalyn Nossi, the only known survivor of the disastrous quest, directs her to the one person who can help her. Matthias Azel, the failed chosen one, reluctantly agrees to teach Hana while concealing his past from her. Accompanied by Kalyn and a charismatic prince with a dangerous secret, they journey to seek answers about Hana’s destiny. They fend off demonic threats and the anti-magic forces as Hana struggles with magic that seems to resist her and a growing fear that the world isn’t meant to be saved.

A dark forest. Snippet. She took a cautious step forward, unaware she was in a spectral form. Little drops of shimmering light followed her path, dissolving into the ground. “But this has to be a sign?” Grass grew where the light fell, delicate bits of nature that should be impossible. “Maybe it’s returning!”
The young woman spoke with such bright reverence as if life was a fairy tale and magic was all they needed for a happy ending. It was as if she couldn’t see the shadows approaching her. The inevitable death.
“Magic should never return.”
After speaking those words, he sprang forward and shoved her away from the shadows. Pain rocked him as soon as he touched her. The scorching mystical agony tore a scream out of him, but it kept her away from the unearthly menace, and the shock did what he intended.
Sent him back to his body.

A dark forest. Comps. Nausicaä. One Dark Window. The Starless Crown. Godkiller. Final Fantasy VII Remake. Chosen One(s)? Ecofantasy. Dieselpunk. Grumpy/sunshine. 1930s vibes. Love triangle. LGBTQIA+ rep. Cynical mentor. Dying world. Found family.

PROJECT BONES After being accused of inviting the plague into a royal summit, a necromancer priest has to work with his only alibi, a cagey nobleman, to clear his name. 🦴 Death magic 🏰 Locked-castle mystery 🕯️ Medieval fantasy 🏹 Robin Hood trope 🏳️‍🌈 MM romance #BluePit #📖 #W #A #F #LGBT #DIS

A moodboard containing imagery of ghosts, bones, foxes, the night sky, and a palace. The title says "PROJECT BONES."

PITCH

Necromancer Nevell of Farlay cannot die, not since surviving the plague as a youth. Now he works as a priest to the god-king, summoned to protect His Majesty during the plague season. But when a mysterious spirit is sighted and nobleman is found dead, Nevell’s reputation gets called into question. His only alibi is the cagey, annoyingly handsome Lord Hargrave, whose reluctance to help Nevell clear his name threatens Nevell’s clergy rank—the only thing protecting his home from the horrors of the plague.

EXCERPT

“Have you no sense?” Nevell stepped between the man and the dying girl’s bed. His magic persisted, but the man carried a lantern that brought too much light into the room, threatening to wash out the spell. “A priest is at work. You should not be here.”

The man paid him no mind, instead peering over Nevell’s shoulder. “I’ve been called senseless before,” he said, speaking with the same grace his attire implied. “Is she…?”

“Dead? Nearly. The spirits are about her. You may have let them out.”

“Her mother has tended to her since this morn.” The man still didn’t look at Nevell. “The spirits will have fled already, if they intended to.”

“Spirits often lack intention.”

“You would know best.” The man took a few steps toward the bed, only stopping when Nevell grabbed his shoulder. He tried to shrug out of the grip, but Nevell held fast. “Father, we can save her—”

“Nay,” Nevell said. “She’s gone.”

THE EVERWINTER KING Desperate to find his missing sun god, a former holy king returns home to compete in trials meant to bring his god back, and stop the onslaught of an endless winter. 🏳️‍🌈 Queer norm world ☀️ Light-based magic 🏳️‍⚧️ Trans love interest 👑 Hidden royalty #BluePit #📖 #Q #A #F #LGBT #DIS

Title page for an agent's guide to THE EVERWINTER KING. The title is placed over a moodboard featuring a Mediterranean inspired setting and royalty imagery. In addition to the title the page reads "Adult Fantasy Standalone. Queer normative world. MM romance subplot. 99,000 words."

THE EVERWINTER KING's pitch.

PITCH
A former holy king does the one thing he swore he’d never do in search of his missing god. He goes home.

Malachi was born with God’s voice in his head. When God vanishes in the midst of a decade-long winter, Mal breaks the oath he made to himself and returns to the home he abandoned—the city where he was raised to be king. There, he’s marked to compete in trials meant to select God’s new emissary. His replacement.

After succeeding in the first trial, Mal demands entry to the royal temple, where he learns the skies are empty. God has stopped speaking to his priests and Mal alike. With no other avenue for answers, Mal must win the competition for God’s favor and assume the throne he never wanted, or risk losing his oldest friend for good and damning the world to a worsening everwinter.

An excerpt from THE EVERWINTER KING. Next to the excerpt is character art of the main character. He has light bright skin, dark brown hair, facial hair, and a simple jerkin over white shirt. His eye is glowing like the sun.

EXCERPT STARTS BELOW

“My head hurts,” Malachi mumbled into his drink.

“They say King Ridaris’ eye glowed like this.”

Did they? Malachi shuffled through his memories for any mention of that from his mothers, or the history books, and found nothing.

“I think it means God knows who you are.” Sen lowered her voice, eyes shifting toward the surrounding priests. Kinder to pretend she did it out of concern for his headache. “You need to be careful.”

“Aye.”

“It hasn’t stopped glowing. Everyone else’s did.”

He raised a hand to cover his eye, pausing to marvel at the light pouring over his fingers and palm. It spilled into every crack, crevice, and scar his hand had to offer, like liquid pooled against his skin. Malachi closed his fist around the cold light and pressed it to his face. “Hurts.”

“Close your eyes,” Samara offered. “Rest. We’ll handle it from here.”

For once, he did just that.

A page listing comp titles.

Comp titles for THE EVERWINTER KING include: "The Raven Scholar" by Antonia Hodgson, "The Raven Tower" by Ann Leckie, "WITCH KING" by Martha Wells, and "The Red Winter" by Cameron Sullivan.

Similarities include: godly shenanigans, political trials, queer-norm worlds, queer male leads, messy homecomings, and a second chance subplot.

Bonus comp! Dragon Age 2.

The first page of a pitch deck. A neon pink art deco border pulls words out of a romantic starry space background. This border and background repeat over the following images. The title page reads in art deco gold and neon pink: An editor's guide to -- Always Get In a Spaceship With a Scoundrel -- A Sci-fi Romance by Ellie Rhymer. Representation Christi Cardenas.

Romantic pink and sci-fi neon and stars: Pitch. Good heists. Bad Decisions. Great Chemistry.

Anora is the quick-thinking manager of an illegal casino, fleeing the assassination of her gang's boss with the hyperspace treasure maps thrust into her hands as he died.

Jayro is a mouthy interstellar smuggler from the wrong side of the hyperspace lane with the only ship that can get Anora off Hecate IV before the emperor's relic-hunting space witches close a net around the planet.

The two bad-at-feelings bisexuals try to tamp down simmering, inconvenient attraction as they are forced to work together with the scrappy, tight-knit crew of the Helle Wanderer to survive in the criminal underworld and discover the secret at the end of the dangerous maps.

Their love story is a heist and they're stealing more than each other's hearts.

Always Get In a Spaceship With a Scoundrel by Ellie Rhymer

Romantic neon pink and a starry background: Excerpt. “Those are pre-set…” Jayro warned as Anora toggled a series of switches at the nav computer and began actively moving data streams around the screen.
“Pre-set for scans for stationary objects. You pick out your nav programs like you pick out your paint schemes?”
Jayro felt annoyance rising up in him again. The cockpit was his domain. Never mind that he agreed with her about the deco. “It took Fish weeks to get those programs running!”
“Look, unless you want to meet an asteroid face to face, shut the hells up and let me work.” Anora frowned as she watched some data return from the program. “Call engineering.”
“Gladly.” Jayro opened the channel on his wrist communicator.
“Yeah?” Fish’s voice responded.
“The new navigator is having trouble with her—” Jayro broke off as Anora grabbed his forearm and yanked his wrist in front of her own face, causing his chair to whirl towards her.
“What on-boards are your pre-sets accounting for?” she asked into the communicator without a glance at him.
“The hyrdobeacon,” crackled Fish’s reply, “the fore and aft isotrope routers…and the gravitic drive buffer, I think.”
Jayro was frozen as Anora swiped at the nav one-handed. He could feel her warm breath on his palm as she spoke with Fish through his communicator, her hand gripping his forearm almost burning him through his flight jacket. She was close enough to smell the blaster emissions wafting off her, the sharp, citrus scent of the steam bath clinging to her skin. His fingertips were millimeters from her cheek and he wanted to cup her face in his hand and drag her around to look at him with those bright eyes. He wanted to play with the flyaway bit of hair that had missed her ponytail and brush his thumb over her lips until they parted.
What was wrong with him?
