An agent's guide to Song of the Sickle, an adult romantic fantasy, 115,000 words, first in a planned series by Megan A. Saraceno

The Pitch: She’s hiding her name, her past, her power.
He sees through her every lie.

Rejected by the gods, Tessa Whitaker brands a false divine seal into her flesh and steals her brother’s identity to save him from a war he won’t survive. But when her emotions manifest unblessed elemental magic, she catches the attention of her dangerously perceptive commanding officer. If he uncovers her secrets, execution will be the least of her problems.

She can survive the war.
She’s not sure she can survive him.

Opening Lines: Tomorrow, the gods would judge me.
Tonight, I pretended they didn’t exist.

I swung the scythe through another row of wheat. My shoulders screamed, but at least the burn was honest. More honest than twenty years of prayers that had earned me nothing but silence.
Sweat carved tracks through the chaff dusting my skin, but I kept moving. One more row. One more bundle. Anything to keep my thoughts off tomorrow and the bare stretch of skin on my forearm waiting to be claimed. Pictures of military training camp, earth magic, glowing amber ring, abandoned watchtower, and incense

The comps: A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L Jensen for weaponized faith and dangerous attraction; Silver Elite by Dani Francis for undercover military training and forced proximity; The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig for divine deception and forbidden truths

#BluePit 🪾THE WITCH OF THE WOOD🏚️ 🥀MM Fantasy Romance 🥀Breaking a Curse 🥀A Spooky Forest 🥀Search for a Witch 🥀Nervous X Confident 🥀Fast Burn 🥀Novella #📖 #A #F #R #LGBT #P (Releases October 6th, ARC Applications Open July 15th)

Over a dark forest:
The Witch of the Wood
- Novella
- MM Fantasy Romance
- Breaking a Curse
- A Spooky Forest
- A Search for a Witch
- Nervous x Confident

There was a witch hiding in the trees of Hatwick Wood. They were a steward of the wood, caring for the alders, maples, and cedar within, watching over the home of the beasts and birds. The witch ensured that villagers never took more than they gave, that they were never ravenous in their consumption of the gifts they were given. This was the witch’s sacred duty, and their magic had flown wild and free as they upheld their oath.
The people who survived on the generosity of Hatwick Wood—every denizen from Farbreak at the south edge to Northpost on the opposite side—respected the witch. Although they had never seen the steward of the wood, stories about the witch had been passed down through the families. Everyone knew the witch was the forest caretaker, and if anything ever went wrong, they needed to be found to mend it. No one knew this better than the Ashtons.
Milo Ashton came from a long line of people who made their living in the forest. His grandfather, and his grandfather’s grandfather, and every generation before that were hunters. It wasn’t work that would make them rich, or elevate them above common folk, but it was good, honest work that would always be needed. The Ashtons had always hunted in Hatwick Wood, respected it, and in turn, the wood gave them a bounty.
That all changed when Hatwick Wood was cursed.

A picture of a young man with tan skin and short dark hair wearing a green cloak and tan shirt. A bow is slung over his shoulder. He looks nervous. Next to him is a box that reads: Milo Ashton - A hunter tasked with breaking the curse on Hatwick Wood. Uncertain, nervous, but determined to do right.
A picture of a young man with shoulder-length dark-brown hair and brown skin wearing colorful clothes. He has a big smile on his face. Next to him is a box that reads: Cambium - An energetic young man who is living in Hatwick Wood. Unaffected by the curse that lingers in the forest. Outgoing, bold, but willing to help where he can.

Stranded in a world of monsters, Celia has one goal: return home ASAP.
But the stranger she followed reveals he's the bassist of all-vampire rock band Mortuus Aeternum, and he offers her a seductive opportunity: the band's flirty guitarist Caliban
will temporarily heal her hand and chronic illness, then help her home. . .
only if she joins Mortuus Aeternum for one performance with a full vampire audience.
Celia is conflicted: she might be willing to sacrifice her freedom for Caliban's healing magic and a second chance at living her rockstar dreams, but she risks being trapped in the Vampire Realm for one year if she doesn't return home in 3 days. To make matters worse, a ruthless vampire lord has announced blood shortages across the Realm—making Celia the new primary food source.

THE EVERWINTER KING Desperate to find his missing sun god, a former holy king returns home to compete in trials meant to bring the god back, and stop the onslaught of an endless winter. 🏳️‍🌈 Queer norm world ☀️ Light-based magic 🏳️‍⚧️ Trans love interest 👑 Hidden royalty #QueerPit #F #A #amquerying

Title page for an agent's guide to THE EVERWINTER KING. The title is placed over a moodboard featuring a Mediterranean inspired setting and royalty imagery. In addition to the title the page reads "Adult Fantasy Standalone. Queer normative world. MM romance subplot. 99,000 words."

THE EVERWINTER KING's pitch.

PITCH
A former holy king does the one thing he swore he’d never do in search of his missing god. He goes home.

Malachi was born with God’s voice in his head. When God vanishes in the midst of a decade-long winter, Mal breaks the oath he made to himself and returns to the home he abandoned—the city where he was raised to be king. There, he’s marked to compete in trials meant to select God’s new emissary. His replacement.

After succeeding in the first trial, Mal demands entry to the royal temple, where he learns the skies are empty. God has stopped speaking to his priests and Mal alike. With no other avenue for answers, Mal must win the competition for God’s favor and assume the throne he never wanted, or risk losing his oldest friend for good and damning the world to a worsening everwinter.

An excerpt from THE EVERWINTER KING. Next to the excerpt is character art of the main character. He has light bright skin, dark brown hair, facial hair, and a simple jerkin over white shirt. His eye is glowing like the sun.

EXCERPT STARTS BELOW

“My head hurts,” Malachi mumbled into his drink.

“They say King Ridaris’ eye glowed like this.”

Did they? Malachi shuffled through his memories for any mention of that from his mothers, or the history books, and found nothing.

“I think it means God knows who you are.” Sen lowered her voice, eyes shifting toward the surrounding priests. Kinder to pretend she did it out of concern for his headache. “You need to be careful.”

“Aye.”

“It hasn’t stopped glowing. Everyone else’s did.”

He raised a hand to cover his eye, pausing to marvel at the light pouring over his fingers and palm. It spilled into every crack, crevice, and scar his hand had to offer, like liquid pooled against his skin. Malachi closed his fist around the cold light and pressed it to his face. “Hurts.”

“Close your eyes,” Samara offered. “Rest. We’ll handle it from here.”

For once, he did just that.

A page listing comp titles.

Comp titles for THE EVERWINTER KING include: "The Raven Scholar" by Antonia Hodgson, "The Raven Tower" by Ann Leckie, "WITCH KING" by Martha Wells, and "The Red Winter" by Cameron Sullivan.

Similarities include: godly shenanigans, political trials, queer-norm worlds, queer male leads, messy homecomings, and a second chance subplot.

Bonus comp! Dragon Age 2.

Three people fall from the sky with the title "Lyric Fiction" bold along the left of the photo. The first and closest is a dark brunette woman with large, long curls. She's wearing a beige shirt, olive skirt, and has glowing tattoos and a blue diamond pendent around her neck.

The next closest is a pale man with bright orange hair. He's wearing a white button up rolled at the sleeves and a black vest. Not to be outdone by gravity, he lights a spliff while falling.

The third figure is the farthest away and blurred from view. He is similar in complextion to the woman and holds a vest behind him as he falls.

A red leather book falls beside him, connected with a sparkling trail around the three that leads to an iridescent cat that's blurred from view.

Run. What a powerful instinct.
Emma Bridge had wanted nothing more than to be with her two siblings in a home that felt safe, but those wishes never came true. With nothing left to lose, Emma runs away from the spotlight of the Hills to a small town across the country, but this new home is anything but the safety she’d been after.

The weight of the world has fallen on her shoulders, and she can’t carry it alone. But with her old name in every police station and her new name on every tongue in town, she’s not sure who she can trust to help carry the burden.

What we know:
-Runaway in Hiding
-Fake Identity (turned real identity)
-Mental Health Rep
-Genderfluid and Pan Rep
-Found Family
-90s Small-Town Nostalgia
At the bottom, the name Emma Bridge is crossed out and replaced with Peyton Freys
