☕️ THE THINGS WE RUN FOR #Editors Emma Bridge has done everything to make this plan work. She’s got the new name, the new town, the new life . . . She’s also got a nosy boy next door who’s stopping at nothing to get to know her. #QuestPit #YA #C #MY #R #AG #OS #LGBT #Dis #OV
A fake case file lays open. On the left side of the folder is a sketch of a girl with a sticky note beside it that reads: “Emma Bridge is believed to have cut her hair. Police sketch artists have taken a guess at what she may look like now.” Under it is a map of all US railroads with another sticky note that reads: “Last seen in California, current whereabouts unknown. An anonymous tip reports she has made it out of the state.” Under that, the name Emma Bridge is crossed out, replaced with the name Peyton Freys.

On the right side of the folder is a clipping of newspaper that reads: “Hollywood’s Beloved Missing” with the date 4/13/1996 below it. Text on the page reads: “What we know: YA Contemporary (with mystery and romance), 82k words” “Represented by Amanda Wooden at SBR Media” “Runaway in hiding, fake identity (turned real identity), mental health rep, genderfluid and pan rep, found family, 90s small-town nostalgia.”

A block of text reads: “Run. What a powerful instinct. Emma Bridge had wanted nothing more than to be with her two siblings in a home that felt safe, but those wishes never came true. With nothing left to lose, Emma runs away from the spotlight of the Hills to a small town across the country, but this new home is anything but the safety she’d been after. The weight of the world has fallen on her shoulders, and she can’t carry it alone. But with her old name in every police station and her new name on every tongue in town, she’s not sure who she can trust to help carry the burden.”

One for Sorrow, Two for Joy, Three for a Girl, Four for a Boy…

Ryn is a small-town thief who has a knack for being overconfident in her abilities, but by day she’s a beloved tavern girl with the liver of steel that carries her reputation. On her most daring break-in yet, she runs face first into the kingdom’s last living assassin, Seven, and he’s just offered her the opportunity of a century: a ticket of attendance to the King’s upcoming courtship gathering. It’s a partnership she’d be a fool to take up, but with her family scattered across the sea after the draft, a fool is what she’ll need to be to find them.

Five for Silver, Six for Gold…

Seven is set on his own plans, however much they interfere with hers, and they won’t be the only ones in attendance with hidden agendas. Once whispers of the past begin to resurface and nobles begin dying around them, it’s survival of the cunning and silver-tongued. The castle is under lockdown, and all bets for the crown are placed on their capture.

Seven for a Secret, Never to Be Told.

Text is on a piece of parchment. Behind the parchment are blue seas and gold flower outlines. Tropes and Themes
- Thief x Assassin
- Mental Health Rep
- Identity vs Duty
- Class Difference
- Forced Proximity
- Secret Code
- Morally Gray
- Women's Wrongs
- Unlikely Allies to Lovers

Comps:

Throne of Glass's castle-setting murder mystery and theme of "who you are versus what you have to do" meets the banter-heavy dialogue, strong female protagonist, and nautical setting of Daughter of the Pirate King.

Text is on a piece of parchment. Beside the text are two headshot drawings: one of a girl with brown hair pulled back by braids, and the other of a black-haired boy with a worried expression. Behind the parchment are blue seas and gold flower outlines. The Atmosphere:
There is a collage of pictures on a parchment paper. Picture one is of a boy crouched down with his head covered as a fire burns in the background. Picture two is of two hands tied to a pole on the beach. Picture three shows a person wrapping up the wounded hand of another. Picture four shows an old piece of parchment with unreadable script. Picture five is of an island with a castle and small village surrounding it. Picture six is of a girl on the run with a dagger in hand. Picture seven shows a bottle of alcohol. Picture eight has a medieval alleyway. And picture eight shows a ship's crew enjoying a sunset.

There is text below the collage that says: ON SUBMISSION NOW!

What if Merlin went mad after the death of his and Arthur's child... and traded love for necromancy? ⚔️ ✨ #WIPPIT #F #RF #HF #R #HR #Spec #OWN #LGBT #A

Historical Fantasy Romance
Arthurian Retelling
Projected 80-100k

Parchment split by a horizontal line design of sun, moons, and stars. On the left is a picture of a man in old armor and a cape climbing a mountain into fog.Themes
- Incidental queer rep
- Morally grey characters
- Lovers to enemies to "it's complicated"
- Grief and trauma
- Quests and necromancy
- "Nobody gets to kill you but me"

Four years ago, Merlin and Arthur’s daughter died. Two years ago, Merlin abandoned Camelot and Arthur married Merlin’s sister, Guinevere. One year ago, Merlin’s hair started turning white.

A life for a life. That’s the price of necromancy spells, one an immortal like Merlin can’t pay. There’s one spell, though, that even immortality can’t stop: the Deathless Demise.

Once a pillar of light, Merlin now stands a dark enemy to Camelot. His Guard, Lancelot, can’t talk him down. His knight, Gawaine, won’t stop him. Only Arthur—ruined, guilty Arthur—can drag his husband back from madness.

If, that is, Merlin takes his hand.

On parchment next to a picture of a foggy lake reflecting the pine trees around it.Welcome to Camelot.

Images include:
- Golden clouds spiralling around a sun
- A man in armor and a red cape putting on a crown in a battlefield
- A forest of tall trees stretching up into clouds
- Someone bandaging another person's hand
- An Arthurian castle coming out of the side of a mountain
- Gold butterflies on a backdrop of dark blue

Gru meme about Sir Barristan. He gets progressively happier as he goes through his slides of evil plans. Slide one says, “I let the nobles kill each other.” The second slide says, “I kill the girl who keeps interfering.” The third slide says, “She lives.” Gru does a double-take at this slide, not having expected her to live. He pulls out a fourth side as a back-up plan, which reads, “I send my nephew to burn down her house.” He is very satisfied with this plan.

A picture of a boy is in a locket, surrounded by hearts and comments from beta readers. The locket says “Kierce my beloved.”

Comments around the locket read: “executive decisions rule UNLESS YOU’RE KILLING KIERCE” “i love him” “i fucking LOVE him if you kill him i might not forgive you” “afksjldjlkfsf em i— kierce— i i fkjjskdfj i have no words he said ONE SENTENCE and i was like yep and this is my favorite character” “OH MY GOD KIERCE” “all the men will sob actually they’ll read pierce and realize they can never be as good as him” “heart eyes emoji” “okay. i return to pierce. he is so. he is so. i return”
