#WIPSnips Another from my upcoming novella, Vitrified. In this scene, Helena is face to face with an entity we don't meet in Savage as You, known as The Gardener. I do so love designing monsters!

I dusted myself off, eyes fixated on the blade of the stone woman’s sheers. They less resembled a gardening tool than they did some kind of ornate version of typical stationery scissors, with pentagonal guards around the shanks and handles made of obsidian. Tall as a house, the statue-like entity carried the visage of a mourning woman donning a long veil that concealed her face, parted in the middle, although the face itself remained featureless, a crack jutting diagonally across. It wore a stone mourning dress, boots. The giant looked at me, fingers clenching around the sheers.
“Why have you come here, Human?” the statue asked, and as it spoke, a roaring flame flickered in the crack running across her face.

#WIPSnips This one was ... tricky. 😅 Unshockingly, I have many, many instances of 'well' in my books. Here's one from Vitrified, right after Helena astral projects into Lin J'Roe. The lavender field, and a familiar face from SaY. (Helena's 'Earth' is called Terra. Same planet, dif universe.)

“Who are you?” I asked.

“The Ferryman is what I go by! Now, I could not help but notice you seem to have materialized from thin air. I’m short on complaints, still, this isn’t quite what I had in mind.”

“I don’t understand. Where am I?”

“Well, that is difficult to surmise. The Wanderer, Rune, told me this particular corner of Esraidambôl is called Lin J’Roe. Lin J’Roe, kind of a funny ring to it, don’t you think?”

#SeptemberWorldbuilders Light and Dark are certainly two of my 18 primary elements. To create day or not you'd need Ūrjā in Fah-Drael, or be powerful enough to move planets in Tey 'Ra 'Tah. It's not very impressive to change night to day in Esraidambôl, your mood can do that. (1/2)

This defines Hailey 100%. She's the sweetest girl you'll ever meet, SO caring and compassionate, funny, always wanting to help however she can. Yet her whole backstory is very dark, she tries her hardest to keep up a sunny appearance but sometimes the cracks show that deep down she's not totally OK.

#Sustember Sparingly. I leave a few threads wide open in SaY. I really hope it doesn't bother people too much. 8-Book series and all. I generally hate cliffhangers at the end of a story unless it's done really well. I do use tiny ones to cap off some chapters, ideally to keep readers motivated.
