The European Commission has rolled out an alternative to Microsoft Teams.
But officials using it aren't impressed, with one describing the tool as "absolute shit."

Science task design🫀 First #retrieval task how blood moves. The final task used the heart diagram as a model to think & annotating the route of blood rather than simply labelling parts. The knowledge held up when we observed a heart dissection later in the week. #PrimaryScience #TaskDesign

"No emails over the weekends" policies are dumb. If your teachers are struggling with workload, restricting when they can do their work makes things worse not better.

I was spoilt last year. I am really struggling this year and feel like I've been SpaceJammed a bit. I've got from having a lovely class, consistency and having 2 excellent TAs to none of those things, and some other things that are frustrating me too.

oh actually a friend recently infected me with another one, which is that when you order like a diet coke or a soda water in a pub and they ask if you want a pint or half pint, you can then sternly go "a half, I'm driving"

Inclusion at primary has failed. We have too many kids in mainstream schools who shouldn't be there. We have too many kids in mainstream schools who need specialist support who aren't getting it. There are lots of schools that are undoubtedly unsafe as a result.

If your school is considering buying into the Developing Experts scheme of work for science, don't. It is rubbish. The worst scheme of work I have ever seen.

If you're outraged by the Man City fiasco, have you considered following your local non-league or EFL team instead of or as well as your PL team? It's way better in almost every way. Premier League football has had more and more of its soul sucked out of it each year since its inception.

Can wearing PE kit all day boost participation, especially among girls? Research suggests it might — so how common is the policy? 🟢 Primary: 77% of teachers say yes, students can wear PE kit all day 🟢 Secondary: just 17% say the same

I’m a big fan of Rob Smith and The Literacy Shed but I don’t think this one works. “Look like you mean it” is just “expression” with five words instead of one. VIPERS is great but not everything needs to be a mnemonic.

This is my favourite of the DfE Inclusion training slides so far. I'd like to add my own reflection question for older staff: Which previous model of DfE training materials encouraged the now frowned-upon approach? (Maximum of three responses)
DfE training slide, entitled "Reflection" features two cases:
Teacher A: The teacher prepares the lesson by developing three different sets of lesson objectives and different sets of learning materials. Each set of objectives/materials gets progressively more challenging. The teacher determines in advance which set each pupil will get. The intention is that by giving pupils different work, based on their SEN status and whether they have lower or higher prior attainment, all pupils will make progress in the lesson.
Teacher B: The teacher starts by thinking hard about what pupils may find challenging about the new topic and how they can best scaffold learning for all pupils. They pick ‘worked examples’ which they intend to model initially and then provide as a scaffold when pupils start to practise the task. They plan a single set of lesson objectives and learning materials for all pupils, recognising that some pupils may initially need small group support to use the scaffold effectively.

Beneath is a reflection question: Which of these examples represents the planning of ‘adaptations’ more in-line with the principles of inclusive teaching, and why?

Still not watched a second of it. I'm not even bothered by the news of Man City's charges. It's just a soulless, corporate behemoth that's targeting rich and foreign fans at the expense of the very people who made it what is.

We can now look forward to a long appeal process, I know. But we can also say, now, "Manchester City, who were found guilty of 114 charges..." every time we mention the club's name; and I believe we should. No more "allegations". They were found guilty, and that is a fact.
