Left a silent tribute at Dixie & Blundell. The ghost bike memorial for Nicholas Ramdeyall (2004–2020). Gone but never forgotten. 🕯️🚴‍♂️ #BikeSky #BikeSauga #BikeTO #GhostBike #GhostBikeMemorial #RoadSafety #VisionZero #SafeStreets #OhMyDouglas #CyclistLivesMatter #ShareTheRoad #VulnerableRoadUsers
Nicholas Ramdeyall's Ghost bike, at Blundel & Dixie Rd, in Mississauga.

A full-shot, eye-level photograph captures a white-painted bicycle decorated with flowers and a black mesh net, standing on a patch of grass. The bicycle, which faces left, is positioned in the center, with its front wheel on the left and rear wheel on the right. Artificial flowers, including pink roses, yellow carnations, and white daisies, are attached to the front wheel, handle bars, and seat post. A black mesh net covers the bike’s frame, wheels, and handlebars, with small round gray puffballs attached to it. A rusted chain is wrapped around the frame, near the front wheel. The bicycle stands on a grassy area, with a paved road visible in the background on the right.

On the bottom left corner, a watermark reads, "Photography by Douglas © 2026 @DarkWaterPhotos @DarkWaterPhotoMedia".
----------------------------

This is the memorial dedicated to Nicholas Ramdeyall.

The Incident: Nicholas was only 16 years old when he was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer while riding his bicycle at the intersection of Dixie Road and Blundell Road in Mississauga on September 1, 2020.

The Installation: Volunteers from Advocacy for Respect for Cyclists (ARC) and other local advocacy groups organized a memorial ride on September 8, 2020, to place this white ghost bike at the crash site.

A Lasting Legacy: His family and community members decorated the bike with sunflowers, pink and yellow roses, and a personalized nameplate to honor his memory. His loved ones continue to celebrate his legacy through The Nicholas Ramdeyall Foundation.

It's very difficult for me to reconcile the constant traffic violence inflicted in our communities by dangerous drivers, then sit through legislative hearings full of hand-wringing on road user safety but focused on bikes. It would be less disingenuous if we were doing more about the actual killers.
