Genuinamente gosto do nosso ritual eleitoral. É como o réveillon de ano novo, começa fora e longe daqui, com os brasileiros espalhados pelo mundo, e vai se desenrolando hora após hora. A gente manifesta nossos votos com as cores das roupas e, no fim do dia, recebe o futuro.

So, this is the seat I use when I'm doing TV. It's high and has no back, so it works better for TV. I left it next to my desk last week. Lily has decided that she's now my officemate. She stays next to me all day and night. So I bought another of the exact same chair for TV. Because I am a cat dad.

"Gov. Lee calls off executions for rest of 2026" www.tennessean.com/story/news/c... Ah, yeah, I think so, buddy. But, also, let's be clear how little this is: Bill Lee calls off ... one execution date.

Gov. Lee calls off executions for rest of 2026

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee is pausing all executions this year after Christa Pike survived two deadly doses of pentobarbital.
"Carrying out a lawfully imposed sentence is among the State's most serious responsibilities, and the people of Tennessee expect it to be done in a manner that is not only legal and constitutional, but is effective," Lee said in a statement Sept. 30.
Lee is calling for a "comprehensive, third-party review" of Pike's execution.
"Therefore, the remaining scheduled execution will not be carried out this year," Lee said.
Gary Wayne Sutton was scheduled for execution Dec. 3.

Behind us, Glencoe of the Slaughter, Achnacone, field of dogs, Achtriachan, where the water-bull lurks among thin fish tickled by weed, and the Great Herdsman of Etive over us like a black axe… —Alison Fell, “Rannoch Moor” in The Edinburgh Book of 20th-Century Scottish Poetry (EUP, 2005) #poem
Rannoch Moor
Alison Fell

Behind us, Glencoe of the Slaughter,
Achnacone, field of dogs,
Achtriachan, where the water-bull
lurks among thin fish tickled by weed,
and the Great Herdsman of Etive
over us like a black axe

To pace the moor, and mark it,
like a cat bruises the grass
for its bed,
or be claimed instead –
scars of burnt heather, dead
weariness, the sheep paths
misleading, and the bogs
pitted with white water

Slow steps mark the line
on the moor sour with struggle,
where darkness is brought to the brim,
and the bog-cotton bursts
like puffs of smoke
after a musket,
and the broken bleached roots
of the old forest
are white bones under
the petrol shimmer of methane

Slow march in the whine
of telegraph wires,
while the wind chops
at my breath,
and the peat mud sticks to my feet
like rafts

I’m very sad about the death of best-selling author Peter May at 74. I grew friendly with him in recent 20 years and he was a true lad o’ pairts. His books were excellent and he also co-created Gaelic soap “Machair”, championed libraries and loathed Brexit! www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/lifestyle...

Incredible. First Secretary Mullin claimed that DHS had identified 15,903 noncitizens on Nevada’s voter roll. Then DHS officials told a skeptical Nevada, no no no, that’s just people we flagged. Here are the names of 185 people we KNOW aren’t citizens. All 185 were citizens. DHS got 100% wrong.
When the Department of Homeland Security sent Nevada a list of 185 names last month that it claimed identified noncitizens who had been improperly allowed to register to vote, state election officials got to work.
On Tuesday, the state sent a strongly worded rebuke to the federal government: Every single person on the list was a lawful citizen.
"As for the 185 individuals, our records indicate that they were citizens," Greg D. Ott, a deputy attorney general in Nevada, wrote, according to a copy of a letter sent to Department of Homeland Security officials obtained through open records requests.
"You have provided nothing of substance to suggest otherwise."Following the meeting, Ms. Vogt sent a clarifying email to Nevada officials. "I also wanted to be sure I clarified that we did not reduce the 15,903 to 185," she wrote. "We've manually reviewed some of the 15,903 and confirmed 185 are not U.S. Citizens."
Now, Nevada officials are saying even that 185 number is wrong. They also took issue with a letter D.H.S. sent them in early September, in which the agency reiterated its initial claims about nearly 16,000 noncitizens on the rolls and pressured state officials to review each case in a letter to Nevada officials in early September.

Fed. judge holds that the "sanctuary city" laws of Rochester, NY, do not violate the Supremacy Clause. Among other things, those laws prohibit city employees from cooperating with ICE. Trump DOJ's lawsuit trying to declare those laws invalid is dismissed. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
Here, Rochester’s Sanctuary City laws and policies are not a prohibition on or interference with the federal government’s role in enforcing immigration policy. Instead, they simply recognize the different functions of each governmental body. Specifically, the Sanctuary City laws and policies only dictate that RPD and other Rochester employees cannot participate in civil immigration enforcement. As such, they do not dictate how the federal government must act and therefore do not violate the intergovernmental immunity doctrine. To the extent that Plaintiff alleges that the Sanctuary City laws and policies may affect the federal government’s approach to immigration enforcement, such arguments are insufficient to demonstrate direct regulation. See Illinois, 796 F. Supp. 3d at 535 (holding that while laws may “indirectly affect ICE’s operations in Illinois, they directly regulate only state and local law enforcement entities” and therefore did
