Every day, we are told that we live in the future—but hype is eating the future and leaving us the bones," writes Sun-ha Hong.

Old episodes of @inbedwiththeright.bsky.social keeps reminding me that film TAR was supposed to convince me cancel culture is bad. I actually left the movie convinced it was a zoom out narrative, starting from the skewed prospective of the narcissist/perpetrator and letting reality shows/catching up

Speaking of Germany, I still think middle-high income people have it good. but if you need to unite different people under the same sentiment, the banner would probably be stop hating on the workers, tax the owners

I think your point stands if we are talking salary-rich, not wealthy. Growing inequality makes working feel pointless, compared to owning. then taxes and then you don’t qualify for Elterngeld as a new working mom! But the asset-rich (aka wealthy), they are not in danger and have the sweetest deal

Less philosophical pieces on the soul of the chat-bot and more disclosures of how much exploited human labour is necessary to maintain the illusion

In the last months we got -a paper from OpenAI explaining how hallucinations are structural to LLM -investigative works showing the use of exploited labour in developing countries for labeling training materials and to correct programming errors to keep the models on track And we just moved on

most people understand politics the same way I understand a media franchise i don't follow but is popular in my social circles; through badly incomplete osmosis and fragments. this is a Problem but also inevitable with all news media as just a consumer product. politics is mostly boring.

Like if AI gives you a small but compounding advantage over a decade there are people who are never going to adopt it. Also, if all of this action and new gadgets bring in fact a small disadvantage in the long run people are also never going to admit that to themselves

Nicola @nicodel.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
ethic aside (at it’s a big aside) I think humans are bad at benchmarking and this conversation is similar to the ones about passive investing. I understand you can read it both ways 😬: people are sure all this action must count for something and it doesn’t. Or it’s impossible to convert nonbelievers

Absolute malpractice to make an article without the age of the complainers. :) You can find three boomers that would complain about new software in any institution and for every software. Dependency from ubiquitous and good US software is a real problem, but MS Team? For real?😀

My 2 would be (as a AI hater): -Writing is thinking. I reckon there are tasks you can automate (IDK, take this speech and make a PowerPoint?). But the moment you have to formalise your thinking is when you think -let AI writes you code to analyse the data, DO NOT feed the data in the LLM

In response to people going after him for this, Friedersdorf claimed that he genuinely had no idea Rufo had anything to do with the Haitians in Springfield slurs and then got mad at people for acting like he was being a complete rube.
BillielsTheOne 9/20/26 “Rufo? The dude who earnestly repeated the lie about cats and dogs being eaten in Springfield? He believes in colorblind equality?”

Conor Friedersdorf • 9/20/26

“I'd missed his involvement in that and agree that, whatever it says about his beliefs, it reflects badly on him.”@josephgfrancis, 9/21/26
“just incredible how people paid to write about politics for major publications can be more ignorant than random twitter users who didn't have to search hard to find this”

Conor Friedersdorf, 9/21/26 “Maybe I saw it and forgot. Or maybe I wasn't on X that week. You people are unbelievable--as if anyone has perfect recollection of every post relevant to something they do a quick x post about. Of course the hive mind of X collectively recalls more things than I do individually.”

ENI (Italian oil and gas, partially state-owned) announced a cap on diesel price. No “if condition x presents itself”, they just centrally decide the max price, and I assume accept the losses to help the government. They’ll embrace Leninism before they embrace clean energy

Oh for sure. I meant more the reactions to the Berlin vote. Where voters also know what they chose and the lust for a crackdown on the Left I read in the German press is in part desperation at their own irrelevance.
