In The Odyssey, Odysseus has to choose between navigating close to Scylla (a monster) or Charybdis (a ship-swallowing whirlpool)
He doesn't find some secret way to break that dichotomy, he doesn't give up and refuse to make a decision
He goes by Scylla because fewer people die
