High-speed rail between Calgary and Edmonton is moving forward, and this is a big opportunity for our city. Let's connect our downtowns, grow our economic corridor and make sure Calgary's airport is part of the network. Alberta is growing. Let's build for it.

A very dense video with lots of good summaries & insights. The "left/right" "urban/suburban" is less compelling ever day. To me it's a matter of haves and have-nots. People with money can insulate themselves from chaotic outcomes (transport, housing, health) with the cost to people with less money.

To be clear, any mayor or city council can do their own version of this in their city. The differentiator is will, or excuse. If they’re not, it’s because they’re choosing not to, either because they’ve wrongly convinced themselves they can’t, or because they don’t want to badly enough (or at all).

The "massive weekly grocery haul" is a symptom of car-dependent sprawl, not a universal rule of life. Healthy cities don't force you to drive to a warehouse store. Good design makes grabbing fresh food a quick, passive part of your daily walk or bike commute. These straw men arguments bore me.
